Ground targets in FC

Hi All, Just added Flying Circus to my list and although its a bit limited at the moment I'm enjoying flying these beautiful aircraft, I know from RoF that air combat during the first world war can be hard work, the enemy planes take a lot of punishment before they go down. But its the ground targets that I am finding hard to destroy, after repeated strafing I cant even get a soft skin truck to smoke let alone explode ?  I can stop a train [boiler full of holes] but have constantly then staffed the fuel tankers, but no luck.   I'll just have to bomb from altitude.

Cheers

I'm having the same experience. Ground targets aren't as satisfying to attack as with the WW2 birds. I've set unlimited ammo and absolutely unloaded into a locomotive with no boom.

Take a camel with bombs and do them how they were meant to be done.

Pop, pop vs boom, boom.

Welcome to the Front!

I'm not having much success with bombing at low level, I have the bombs set to explode on contact, so is the short drop not arming the bomb ?

Yes, and set fuse to 3 seconds....difficult with train as you need to do the mental math of time and distance and relative speed between plane and train.

Shoot truck engines tiny hitbox to stop them and then bomb them.

If your trying it out in QMB, I agree, trucks seem to be impervious to MG.  I just took it as a bug.

Thanks All.

Set the fuses to five seconds. Strafe to make target stop, then bomb it.

I'm not sure they should be exploding after strafing, to be honest. Unlike WWII birds these things don't have cannons. Those were the real damage dealers, the guns that could penetrate various outer layers to get to the vital bits like the fuel tanks. That's a lot harder with little machine guns.

In short as @Goffik states. And not everything needs to goes boom to be considered destroyed in the sim.

I do believe this was an improvement that we gained a some time ago in part due to Tank Crew;

For Tank Crew - Battle of Prokhorovka project we plan to release 4 new player controllable tanks and the map of the southern part of the Kursk salient, but it will happen early next year. However, you'll see the new functionality being developed for this project earlier - it should be noted it will benefit not only the tankers but pilots as well. For instance, in the coming update, you'll experience the higher fidelity damage modeling for AI controllable ground objects such as trucks and tanks. Before, there was no difference where you hit a truck, but in the new system, each 'simple' vehicle has many types of simulated parts - wheels or trucks, engine, ammo rack, fuel tanks, driver, turret, main gun. By hitting a simple AI vehicle at these parts you can immobilize it or render it inoperable by damaging a turret or main gun if any. Statistics system will consider it destroyed if its ammo, explosive cargo or fuel tanks detonated or its crew was killed or its engine was destroyed or its suspension has been rendered inoperable (at least two wheels or tracks damaged). All this not only makes the tank missions more interesting but also increases the simulation accuracy of the ground attack missions for pilots. We also develop two scenario campaigns (USSR and Germany) for Tank Crew, each one containing 10 missions set in the second week of July 1943 near Prokhorovka.

3 second fuses works.
