Knarley-Bob Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 How many thousands of bullets does it take to shoot down a Bi-Plane?? Hitting the pilot just takes one, some times. Hitting the motor a few times should do it. But otherwise there isn't really any thing to hit. What would one suppose the average # of hits to each downed plane?
6FG_Big_Al Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Depends. You can also sieve wings quite well (although not as easy as in RoF). The trick (I know it sounds stupid) is that you have to hit. In FC it is a bit harder because of the lack of calibration of the curves, but it is also much more satisfying when an opponent crashes and hits the ground. The right convergence also helps to damage his fire on a certain spot. Otherwise, if you want it to go "fast", engine/cooling or pilot are the best targets, as you have already determined. 1
Knarley-Bob Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 At this point, hitting the plane is an achievement.?

I've shot wooden structure and had the shots go clean through, and other times where the wood basically exploded (which if under load on an airframe, could lead to catastrophic failure). It depends on the angle of impact in relation to the grain and density of the wood. So...it depends.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 My bullets are targeted for metal or flesh , so half forward in direction of airplane nose. Great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting it's ability to fly - wings and fusulage.
