oneeyeddog Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Yobbo89, you can download here. Make sure to copy and save your input files and delete the entire game before downloading. (http://il2bos1.s3.am...m/IL2_setup.exe) Edited April 19, 2014 by oneeyeddog
pilotpierre Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 This is my slowest download yet, over an hour now, fluctuating between 30 an 500 kb/sec, most of the time less than 100.
cobbman11 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Has anyone tried using sweetfx with the in-game AA?
Felix58 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 My download has just cracked 2Gb! The update indicates 1.68Gb. Is there an issue with this?
Bando Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Has anyone tried using sweetfx with the in-game AA? With in game AA, SFX won't work. Put in game AA at 0, SFX works again.
PB0_Foxy Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 With in game AA, SFX won't work. Put in game AA at 0, SFX works again. Damned ! I hope they will be able to fix that one day because flying without AA is
MasaIV Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Is anyone else having the "Show this next time?" box come up every time they turn the HUD off? (Despite having the box unchecked)
Felix58 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Found the solution to my previous post here http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2094-installation-and-performance/ Edited April 19, 2014 by aus3620 1
cobbman11 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 That's too bad. Although I've been flying without Sweetfx lately in favor of AA and I have to say the smooth picture is worth losing the deeper colors.
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 19, 2014 1CGS Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) There is a welder at work in the hangar! Yeah, the first time I saw that in closed testing, I thought there was an issue with the game or my graphics card. It really is a nice feature and helps bring the game to life. Edited April 19, 2014 by LukeFF
71st_AH_Hooves Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Damned ! I hope they will be able to fix that one day because flying without AA is If you use Nvidia, you can use its AA setting sot override the games lack of AA. Though be advised, they said if you have graphic bugs you might wanna just use the in game settings. Basically they can't help if its an Nvidia problem. Makes sense i guess.
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 19, 2014 1CGS Posted April 19, 2014 It just seems as though we're going backwards and have less things we're allowed to do as the community. Just google "IL2 skins" and you will see how important skinning is to us. Hundreds, if not thousands of skins made by players out there. But unfortunately, among all those skins, there are a lot that frankly look like crap.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Isn't that where the community voting/vetting process comes in? I also really dislike the no custom skins path we've taken. I think it's a big mistake and easily solved via ROF's existing system. 1
GAVCA/Jambock__28 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Thanks for the informative post on the DM. I was curious about the DM versus previous titles, so to know that they were under-modeled is a revelation. As you say, a 20mm round can do a lot of damage. Everything depends on what is hit... A P-47 was very difficult to shoot, as was experienced by Robert Johnson: https://secure1.tagonline.com/~cradle/history/aircraft/p-47/5.html To me the P-47 was not modeled tough enough in il2:1946... Anyway, I liked this news: 13) How granular is the engine DM going to be? Can you hit individual cylinders and bits or is it just going to be old school "the engine is one bit hitbox" style? It is very detailed and you'll be informed about every hit in the GUI when it's ready. But here's a note for the future: a 20mm round doesn't care how detailed the engine's DM is - it hits it and it turns it into a piece of junk 1
IVJG4-Knight Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 IL2 1946 damage modeling : I hit a spit 3 times with 30 mm kannon. One in each wing and one in the fuselage and it still returned to base.
RDW Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 How big is the entire update now? I am downloading and it reads 1.95GB/1.76GB.
Feathered_IV Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Downloading for almost five hours now. 25% and counting. Is there a premium version of premium membership I can pay for?
RDW Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Still confused about how big the file is... wish it would download faster. Sorry Feathered about your Internet speed. Its a pain I bet. Edited April 19, 2014 by RDW
Dave Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Downloading for almost five hours now. 25% and counting. Is there a premium version of premium membership I can pay for? LOL. Welcome to Oz. I cheered when the initial installer download finished after over an hour (on my 16Mb connection). Only then did I remember I now need to wait for another 1.7GB to cross the pond by carrier pidgeon. Well I'm catching up on my YouTube warbirds action I suppose.
FlatSpinMan Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 God bless the far-flung, for verily they (we) doth suffer greatly, come the time for the downloading of the updates. Even with a high-speed cable connection in a large urban area, it's still taken me nearly an hour to download the 339MB set up program. Oh well, the Crusaders play the Chiefs in under an hour, so that'll fill in the time nicely.
taleks Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Update size is about 1,7 Gb. In some cases, in web-distribution mode, if launcher decides to discard a downloaded part of some file, first number may become bigger than second, cause it shows actual downloaded size, not expected. If you've got a bigger first number in progress bar (e.g., more than 100-200Mb), then start a new thread in support forum, attach data/update.log (compress it to zip before attaching to forum). Probably, there is problem with some file downloading and/or resuming.
pilotpierre Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 That's too bad. Although I've been flying without Sweetfx lately in favor of AA and I have to say the smooth picture is worth losing the deeper colors. Have to agree.
Nage Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 But unfortunately, among all those skins, there are a lot that frankly look like crap. Im sorry, this is not an argument which holds water. 3
Feathered_IV Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Ho Hum. Mrs F_IV helpfully shut the computer down, as it appeared I wasn't using it. As there is no ability to resume the download I must now start all over again.

Feathered_IV Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Thanks for that. Just to test, I switched it off. It most certainly does not resume. I shall try one last time...
taleks Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Thanks for that. Just to test, I switched it off. It most certainly does not resume. I shall try one last time... It may show the same size still, but if you look to update.log, it will have line like "Resuming downloading of ..." for web-distribution (for p2p resuming works in another way, but it still works). When calculating update size, only fully completed files are excluded from total sum of all files sizes. If you believe still that something is wrong, then the only way to check it is to show me update.log in technical support sub-forum.
ram0506 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 That's too bad. Although I've been flying without Sweetfx lately in favor of AA and I have to say the smooth picture is worth losing the deeper colors. You can use the AA of SweetFX (FlightFX), too. In the SweetFX settings you just have to switch SMAA_CORNER_ROUNDING to 30 or 40. Works great, but don`t forget to set the ingame AA to 0x, otherwise SweetFX won`t run.

Zak Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Pardon me Zak, but you said it will be like RoF. Thats how RoF is yes? Approved Skins available for Download? You can't change the individual letters, you have to change the whole skin. What am I missing? No one told me anything. Im going off what YOU said. No, I haven't said that there will be skins approved for download and that it will be like in ROF. You said it in the update today the answer to question 8. "Its like RoF" is your answer. Yes, this is where I put the "Like in ROF" stuff as I was replying a question if the personal markings will be decals or entire skins. Long story short: skins distribution system which you might be familiar with since ROF will not be functioning in BOS. That will be different, we haven't ever said what it will be like, but it's not going to be exacly like in ROF.
senseispcc Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 The Yak-1 and Lagg-3 landing characteristics seems to me corrected, less bouncy, more realistic! The clouds are changed once again I like every change because every one is realistic in is way. The flight record is less prone to crash the game when after a mission I tried to change the name of the record. There is one original mission for the IL2m in the mission menu, I shall try it in a near future, thanks and hope for more. All in all a nice update in a great game, thanks a lot!
MD_Avingalarf Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 On my third download since last night, i am NOT having a laugh--notavingalarf--
kendo Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 The new clouds are excellent. Really quality. (Though the AA obviously still needs a little fine tweaking with them. Getting the same aliasing effect that afflicted the black smoke initially.) And like others here I'm still opting for in-game AA over SweetFX. Hopefully all will be made compatible again in the end.
SYN_Jedders Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 No, I haven't said that there will be skins approved for download and that it will be like in ROF. LLv34_Flanker Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 S! Goodies Installing my gaming hardware today so can do some testing. I am glad to read about the questions and answers, especially AMD related. Thanks for that and will run tests on my AMD GPU HAve a good weekend all.
sturmkraehe Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 The issue with the skins is also itching me. I understand that with the technique employed by BoS allowing personal skins in mp is an open invitation to cheating as it allows to make a plane invisible. Is it not possible to impose a non transparent alpha layer by the server meaning: Could it be checked by the server if an alpha layer leads to transparent planes and block such skins? Could it be an option to revert to skins similar to IL2 1946 for online playing? I really think this very restrictive regulation on skins albeit absolutely understandable is a big drawback for the game. Skins are a vital part for any online and offline flying squadron. As is being able to put individual letters on individual planes.
334th_L0C0 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) No, I haven't said that there will be skins approved for download and that it will be like in ROF. Can you allow user skins for privately hosted matches on private servers? No skins for Campaign or Multi-player is a killer for me. It's why we have squads. We want to look our part. Looks like we now have our answer Spektre.. We're F'ed. Very disappointed. Edited April 19, 2014 by 9./JG54_EZ
steppenwolf Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 For me, the DM being 90% done was unexpected. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it because it seems less sophisticated than the ROF DM.
