Bill Stealey is the original founder of MicroProse from 1982, he was the president of MicroProse from 1982-1993, and he is in the 'new' MicroProse.

So what? Bill Stealey didn't code falcon 4.0 by himself. Also TitanIM runs on the outtera engine.) lagetti didn't create the entire TitanIM software from the ground up. Hasn't really done a whole lot with it either. I'll keep holding my final judgment till we see some actual footage in game in video format. However from what I've seen from the early 3d models it isn't looking like anything more than a hastily cobbled together mess.

Just saw this on Twitter:

If that means they are doing some kind of B17 revival, I admit I´m hyped.

The model in the pic is a B-24. A Mighty Eight type game but with a B-24 would be sweet.

Are you sure? Looks really like a B-17 to me...

@Legioneod The engine controls, the cockpit windows and the shape of the fuselage look very B-17-ish to me.

But I might be wrong. A B-24 would be just as nice. ?

Hashtag says B17 ^^

But more important: In Sepember Warbirds 2020 should have been launched and nothing seems to have happened...

I'll believe this news only when there is actually a game ready to play ^^

That is a B 17 pit. Look at the control column

I have to thank Microprose for the 1st WW1 flight game I ever played: Knights of the Sky. It was very expensive at the time. The portuguese escudo equivalent of 100 euros, at the time (direct conversion).

Ah, yep. B-17. Don't know why I got confused. Hope they'll do a B-24 as well, it was the real workhorse.

B-24 yoke frame has a "Y" shape, B-17 yoke an "T", like in drawings. Other detail, B-17 windscreen is in two pieces - forming a "V" like in drawings, B-24 windscreen is in 3 pieces.

But after that "Lego" P-51 showed by Microprose, this drawings can be anything.  ?

Yep. I didn't pay much attention, just did a quick look and said B-24. I feel pretty foolish.?

I don't think this is the same "Microprose" as we had before, so color me highly skeptical.

A game like "The Mighty 8th" would be amazing in multiplayer with VR. I loved the original. I still have my copy with the manual.

Agreed, but whatever team this is, they have real opportunity to hit a home run here. Imagine how intense this game could be with MP/VR in today's standard of graphics. Using VR and being inside the aircraft while flak and fighters are perforating the skin, smoke, fire, injured crew mates. This would be INSANE. Add the MP ability where all ten positions can be manned and everyone has to work as a crew and this game will be in a league of it's own.  And IIRC, in the original, you could fly the escort and enemy fighters as well.

I think the original was waaay ahead of it's time. A new one with today's fidelity would be an instant buy from me.

I’m a Liberator guy all the way but hell, I’m hoping this project pans out to live up to our expectations despite it being a Boeing. ?

And yeah, VR would be the icing on the cake.

Thanks for posting this. I’ll be keeping a close eye on it now.

Which is probably the most excitement you'll get from this.

If it's anything like the original mighty eighth then it'll be good, I'm not expecting it to be much more than that.

Has anyone here actually ever played one of those great but stone age sims recently again? And still thought it was fun? Thought FM and DM were great? Considering the alternative?

Kinda like the old TV series, Airwolf for example. How great were they when I watched it back then. Have you ever tried watching some episodes again? (Don‘t!!)

I haven't played recently but I had a play through last year I think. Still enjoyed it.

Impressive that you could run it. As for the B17, there‘s A2A Simulations version. No combat, but just flying. It‘s grand.

Yep ready for this...ive just watched the Cold Blue on you tube and currently reading The big week by James Holland :)

I was super excited to see all of these renders until I found out that they're for the new version of Warbirds 2020. So, if you were hoping for a new Mighty 8th game, or some such similar WWII title then think again. These are for the upcoming Microprose MMO.

You gents are sometimes of little faith ?

I marvel at the ability of some out there to make such assumptions based on a few screens and some - arguably - rather feeble data. Labels are labels, different studios can work on different projects and still deliver different experiences under the same brand. Myself, I reached very different conclusions on what's going on and had them verified for my greatest joy. The only thing I can tell you is that this is not what you seem to think it is.
Digging up more info wouldn't be fun if it wasn't for the digging, so I will let you hunt down the clues here and there on the vastness of the world wide web - but I would refrain from reaching the sort of aforementioned, seemingly ultimate conclusion too quickly. My 2 cts ?

All those pics can not possibly come from the Warbirds MMO ... simply because the pits shown would be illogical and overkill fot that kind of game.

Yes, it's quite funny when people expect some miracles just because company has old name lol.

What did you expect. For those of us enjoying B 17 , we did not expect to ever expirience it again. Now there is s chance. I grab it
