I’ll pass on land based Phantoms and wait for USN ones, want to limit my intakes of blue jets to carrier ones, unless they are Korean War era or they are an F-105

On the red side the MiG-17/MiG-23/Su-17 are still probably in the “3-4 years off” range, can’t do much but wait (I am not sold on the J-8II)

Yeah, competition is a great thing. ? Hopefully we will see changes for the better in a new GB project , too

I've noticed the lack of posters elsewhere on the forums... and interest has definitely risen here.

There is a silence majority happily using Gb and express their feelings on fb rather than here. Inactivity is understandable considering no new impulses.
I am more on clod section looking for news about vr support. That is my main source of ww2 activity. Simply love flying the wellington and when / if Lancaster arrive in DCS and have some quality about it. Those will be my main activity.

DCS fairly recently added native Open XR support for VR to their sim, gave it a try finally  today and was very impressed. Gained nicely in the VR performance department over Steam VR which allowed me to increase resolution as well. Very glad they did this for us VR users.

OpenXR for DCS... How is this activated?

Is this already available for the pico 4?

Thanks

As I mentioned Eagle Dynamics recently added it as another VR option. One selects it by adding nomenclature to the DCS.exe shortcut file name.   In my case "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --force_OpenXR

I can not say if Pico 4 supports Open XR. A quick google search appears to show it may have been recently added.

I had to return to my home planet. It was a long trip. ?

I know you're just being you in all your glory ? but I find most prebuilt missions to be tedious. That my be my own fault and not that of the mission builder. But when I fly a canned mission, I'm halfway through it and all I want to do is quit and go make my own.

I get that actually...and that's the beauty of DCS. :)

I just drink another pint, smoke another jay, and just grind on like a zombie in whatever boring missions are assigned. And I thank the powers that be that I don’t live in the Arctic.

It's legal here in the Arctic?

Actually, Kirk said it was a combined service.

The word 'grind' has been disallowed on this forum since well into 2013 Sir. Would you please refrain from using that term. You know who is back and we must not give him any ideas.

Thank you dburne for your feedback, really appreciated.

I read about this, but don't really understand what is now 'supported'.

I understood it would mean that Apps in the PICO store could be developed with the openXR-adapted SDK and then run on the PICO 4 processor thru its OS ?

But I will have to see if this ALSO means (or not?) that using Virtual Desktop, DCS -WITH- OpenXR works just as well (?).

Well I started mad campaign in AH 64. I thought I test my skill. Went straight in the ocean watching too long my hellfire hit a target.
It seems I am good enough until I get unfocused

You know, in the free world we all can move to a place of desire. I moved 250 km north from where I was born.
I and my wife been in Greece , Italy Spain and Croatia looking for a place to spend winters on. But we simply find it dull

As for missions , only ones I make is for specific target training or nav

I enjoy some transport legs if there is a challange involved. Never is with glaspit.
what annoys me is long missions with the difficult part in the end. Making me do it over and over again. It really do not have to be difficult just me repeating same mistake several times.

When they implemented open XR into DCs , for me it ment only one thing. I did not have to open open composite anymore.

I couldn't live without winter. There's a transcendental quality to it. I don't do it as much know as I used to, as I am older than I used to be, but on reeeeally cold nights I'd put on a spacesuit and go for a long walk. I live in a small town so there's lots of lovely nothing around. Being outside at night, just trees and stars, hearing that special crunch the ground makes when it hits -30, it's like walking on another planet. ?

What I was referring to on my end when I said it was now supported, was ED had added native Open XR support to DCS.  There is a long thread on it over on the DCS forums here if you want to read up on it. So now DCS can run either in Steam VR or Open XR natively. I have no idea about Virtual Desktop.

If you look a the second post in that thread it has a list of headsets and whether they support Open XR or not, according to that list the Pico does not however that particular post was back in Jan so something may have changed,

There's a chance we might get The Big Fat Update today.

If it comes out with Normandy 2 and multi-threading it's going to be da bomb!

I am so looking forward to Multi Threading however I highly doubt it is ready yet. Hopefully not too much longer.

It was a dream I had. ?

It was supposed to be last Wednesday, then cancelled, then maybe Friday, cancelled again. Big updates are often on Wednesdays, as this was supposed to be originally, and here we are on a Wednesday and there hasn't been a post saying it's not today, so there's a chance.

The update was announced way earlier than usual, so there is some speculation that it has to be a big one.

There's been no new date announced since it was cancelled on the 1st.  It won't be today since the patch thread hasn't been updated, Patch Status - DCS World 2.8 - ED Forums

I don’t follow the updates closely, and I had no idea the multi-threading update was close.  I don’t have VR, and currently enjoy a margin of hardware performance because I’m just on a screen, but this is a game-changer.
