I’m reading about the BS3 upgrade..hmm, I’m sure it will be very discounted for previous owners, but I’m thinking, maybe no…I feel like I wringed all that there was to have out of that module, and honestly not really enthusiastic about it, because I’ve been there and done that, online and off, even if the new one has Iglas and mws.  Just me at this particular stage of interest in various helicopters.  Hokum is one of best, and most unique modules there is, as it stands, no doubt in my mind.

I'm really looking forward to it. The BS2 is one of my three favourite modules. The other two change around but the BS2 is always there. Even if it's just a sweet paint job for the interior I'm all for it. I'm happy to drop $10 for a top shelf cockpit.

There's a post from wags today saying multicore is in closed testing at the moment.

It was in "closed" testing then too. ? Hopefully its close.

The cockpit is already done I believe. What you already see is what you get.

Man I flew it so much, I can start it and take off with eyes closed today.
yet I am too stupid to find threats and get shot down every time. I simply rather take the hind and blast the entire area full head on

My Ka-50 carries more "Kaboom!" than your Hind. ?

Yes, seriously I think the concept of an Airborne IFV never took off.  The hide behind the trees, pop up and shoot variety was the wave that carried..  Much rather be in a KA then an Mi-24 in this game.

KA-50 is sentimental to be. Black Shark 1 was the first sim I purchased from ED, and that was even before there was a DCS World concept.

And it was the first one I learned to fly , but has been many years now since I have flown it.

I said earlier that the A-10C was the first I bought. Acutally was the standalone BS1.  I was like F this.  Years later learned to fly it well with the English language cockpit.

Just look at the shed loads of you tube videos on real attack helicopters getting blown out of the sky recently...  you were just mirroring real life mate.

Is that the channel or Normandy Part Deux?

Ive just got back flying again after a good few months away and booted up the Channel map for messing about with a Hip playground for practice (yes sandbox but i can hardry be immersive with a Labrador trying to gen on my lap every 2 minutes). For all my whinging abour DCS I have to say its an incredible expereince. The ED Channel map seems to give an really good impression of speed fown low for some reason and the detail is incredible. Add to that a mission editor thats quite accessable and I have stuff that can keep me happy for months.

Yes, those are screenshots comparing the old to the revised version. @nirvi already posted it, you might want to bookmark this thread: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/310823-dcs-normandy-20-preview

Maestro had already been providing excellent preview material while Ugra was busy with their Syria map, so my personal expectations are even higher. Who knows, DCS might eventually succeed in getting its (WW2) s**t together.

I hope they do. The more the merrier.

I like the A2G in DCS, I think it's much better than IL2, as is the DCS mission editor which is crucial for building A2G scenarios. But after buying Normandy a few days ago and getting back into IL2 I saw right away that as far as A2A goes, IL2 still owns it. The visibility of the enemy planes, the padlock, the solid FPS, the graphics, the damage models, IL2 is a lot more enjoyable for WWII air combat.

KA 50 getting igla. Pretty effective weapon and can still take normal load of weapon. And automated chaff dispensing will save my ass

yeah. I gonna fly a lot more KA 50

From the videos I have seen lately I think they need an automatic cloaking device because the auto chaff ain't working out so well in reality it seems.

I'm extremely hyped about BS3.

For the first time ever, I'll be able to ignore a module thrice.

People rag on the helicopters, but anybody can fly a fixed wing flightsim airplane.  You buy a fixed wing plane and you’re probably flying patterns first time out after assigning the basic controls.  Learning the systems takes the most time.  But not everybody can fly a flightsim chopper well, so getting that down is a whole new challenging area to explore in the hobby.  People who haven’t flown a helicopter in DCS or other sims should definitely give it a try.

If you want to "fly a helicopter", get the Huey.

If you want to "fly a helicopter ironically", get the Gazelle.

Gazelle is actually not bad. It can fly in same speed as the Huey wile barrelrolling around it

extremely fun to fly

I love doing some scouting in the GZ. And now you can even multicrew it online - not that you need to, but you can.

After adjusting the stick-curves and tweaking the saturation, it even feels a little like an actual helicopter ?

Huey, hell yes, but I tried the Gazelle in a free trial and decided no.

Well no helicopter is like the real thing

Gazelle is not that off as you might think

but it need a good joystick to fully enjoy

tweaking the axis can be a disfavour

Sure, but I want a module to feel like it’s going to feel, which supposedly should give an approximation of the real thing, not have to resort to calibration voodoo to make it feel “like a helicopter”.  I did all that calibration stuff when I tried the module, but ultimately, it just felt like a giant kluge.

Anybody can fly a module that flies like a "real helicopter". Only the real pros manage to master the clusterduck. ?

I enjoy the Gazelle but it does have its faults. The gun sounds good. I find the Apache the hardest to fly.

The Ka-50 is my baby, but the Mi-8 is very, very nice. Just needs a new cockpit.

From the FAQ:

This is a screenshot  of a highly detailed map area. Previously, this was a "low detail zone" on the 1944 Normandy map, but now it will be available to all users with this level of detail. This will be for the users of "Normandy 1944" and for the owners of "Normandy 2".
