While there are positive signals from them I would still be cautious, the Corsair is gonna be their very first combat module (though I hope they will be up to the challenge)

The only way I will early access the Corsair is if it comes with, at the very least the AI Zero to fight, but preferably the WWII Marianas Map, The Carrier and the AI Zero. Other wise I will wait until a sale price arrives, and better yet a few months of customer feedback as to how good or bad this is. Also, just like the I16, there really is no scenario to extensively use the Corsair in, much like quite a few of the WWII DCS modules.  Looking pretty is not the same as operating and functioning well. The Mossie being another case in point, she looks beautiful and for the most point operates very well, but the early trim system, even with tweaks is just not right and they have made no mention of a fix coming soon. Also the AAA is absolutely brutal and there is no way to adjust it that i know of?  Whether it is realistic or not, there should be a way to tone it done for people who openly admit, i am not a professional WWII pilot, and i would like a fighting chances to survive and be successful at a low level, or high level for that matter, mission. Anyway, the Corsair is looking beautiful, but as posted, beware before jumping in with both feet.

Oops, too slow, unplugged myself. Did this multiple times. And had to use the airbrake twice, coming back in too fast. ?

Getting the probe in seems relatively easy, due to its position and the benign handling of the aircraft. The tricky bit is matching speed, due to throttle lag. I think I need to use my ears more: if you listen carefully, you can hear the change in engine RPM before you notice the plane drifting backwards and forwards.

I use negative curve on the throttle axis, it helps with AAR and landings.

They own the MiG-21bis module.

And so far if you start reading the proper soviet made manual you will end up realising that several system (especially the gunsight) are not working as they should or have workarounds in place of the proper procedures. Plus recurrent bugs that often appears each version (I have the module myself btw)

Let's not talk about the Kh-66 missiles that were only supported by the radar of previous variants of the Fishbed (guess they got that since they inherited the module) or that they basically flooded the module itself with a bunch of unhistorical skins for it (for some community points I guess) or we aren't going anywhere.

It definitely needs a lot of care, if they can provide that along with new and well modelled modules all the better :salute:

Ok, for the avoidance of doubt. This was a humorous comment aimed at highlighting sensible advice from Blade in a hobby where, typically, sound and sensible advice doesn't play a part. Apologies to those for whom it didn't land as funny.

Now I am certainly confused? Does that mean I should apologize for my smart ass retort to what I may have mistakenly considered was your initial smart ass reply?.................. I must keep my drawbridge raised, leary of the huge carved wooden horse just the other side of my moat.

No need for apologies, my attempt at humour was as clumsy as any attempt by me at making a wooden horse would be :)

By the way...I've been away from the puter and unable to post this.

This is Zero confirmed as far as I can tell. There's no other reason they'd post such a sequence. This isn't showcasing the map, it's making a statement about the Zero, and at this juncture this is the only way they can do it.

When...who can say.

The only 'statement about the Zero' I can see there is that it looks vaguely like a FW 190 from a long distance, with one eye shut, looking through steamed-up glasses. But only if you look at it from one particular angle. And don't know much about what a Zero looks like.

As for DCS ever getting an actual Zero, ED have dropped all sorts of hints over the years. Sometimes they relate to things that later happen. Sometimes they don't.

Just IMHO - they wouldn’t do this if it wasn’t in the plan.

I think that AI Zero has been semi-confirmed by Leatherneck for quite some time.

Well it is either an AI Zero or someone is going to have to put a few meatballs on the I16 and we can run DCS at 800x600 over the WWII Marianes map, and then,...well there you go.

DCS goes to the Pacific!:good:

But that's definitely a re-skinned Anton, and not a Zero - and there never was any confirmation, neither written nor visual, that we'd get a Zero.

Don't get my (our?) hopes up yet.

The only trace so far of an AI Zero has been some extremely early 3D render by Magnitude, which are now more than an year old with no further mentions. Given ED and some of their 3rd party track records I believe in something coming only when it's getting downloaded to my game client :P

Probably M3 will provide an AI Zero

'sigh'

I'm quite aware that we're looking at a re-skinned Anton...not the point.

All I'm saying is that it's a strange thing to do (re-skinned Anton) if it's not a strong hint (and I think a strong statement) about future plans...that's all.

My opinion...I could be wrong.

That's a lot of work for something that only happened 11 times.

I'm downloading my little Scooter now.

That seems like a good way to get in the air, and not forget much @Bremspropeller...always one of my favorites since I was a kid, and has the advantage of automatic "Gimme Shelter" or "Jumping Jack Flash" always in the background as additional incentive to fly.

Edit:

Hmm...I know it's free and all, and not saying that I won't fly it. It IS the A4 after all, but...

Low-res 3D model compared to the current standard...and no PBR textures. That might not have been a big deal before, but after the F-14 anything else is a bit rough to look at. Especially knowing I'll soon have the Corsair cockpit in front of me.

BUT!! It's the A4 so I'll give it a chance.

Well started her up, took off, landed no problem completely seat of the pants. (not bad for a guy who never get's to fly)

Wasn't able to stop before the end of the runway though. I think I like this thing.
