Gambit21 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Reading “Terror in the Starboard Seat” for the third time - it’s so damn good. ”Bump-bump-bump around the damn English countryside at low level, and by low I mean pulling up to go over the trees”
Bremspropeller Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Following Fenrir, beating up the airfield. 487sqn is on a secret mission. 7
Gambit21 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Anyone have a clue why my downloaded WWII assets pack is not available for me in the editor/game? I hate crap like this.

Gambit21 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) 21 minutes ago, JimTM said: In Module Manager > Installed, is the slider green beside WWII Assets Pack? The Assets pack doesn't show up in the manager, which is odd. That includes the page with the green sliders. The units themselves I'm able to find by poking around in the DCS directory. On the home screen, the module manager icon shows the red "1" symbol, like it does when you've purchased something but haven't downloaded it yet. However, I have downloaded the assets pack. In fact the assets pack is not available to purchase from the module manager because of this. It's very odd. Yesterday or the day before when updated DCS, the updater detected "extra" files...these were all of the assets...so said "keep" Thinking back, I think I was prompted to download the assets pack twice for some reason. DCS then updated to the latest build (open beta) but no WWII assets. I changed my Windows Security to make allowance for the DCS.exe, and the Updater.exe. I'll run a repair operation in a bit and hope this fixes the problem. I don't see anything in the protection history however. Edit: Repair worked! Edited September 24, 2021 by Gambit21 2

I mean, none of you would put up with s##t like that from your alligator" Third time for me too. 1

Enigma89 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 For those that have friends just getting into DCS Warbirds but don't want to learn the manual start up procedure, I made an auto-start guide that bridges the gap between auto-start and being able to get in the air to shoot. 2
CUJO_1970 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 wait^^ there are servers that limit MW-50 for the 109? Seriously?
Gambit21 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Got this from the ED forum - great for illustrating what was actually metal vs wood. 8
AndyJWest Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 @ Gambit21 - that really needs posting in the 'Stealthy Mosquito' thread. 1

I want one, but I imagine it costs a pretty penny if it is even available to purchase and isn't just a one off build. It is really SWEET though!!! Thanks for posting Gambit21. S!Blade
Bremspropeller Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Bond? No, NoOB ? Seems like with Engine #2 out, there's not enough juice to feather the prop. On the DD server, attacking a power station. Yes that's a step in the water. Low is fun. Alotta fun. We died anyway... 1

Bremspropeller Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Totally loved those two videos: 1 1
RedeyeStorm Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I bought old Mossie. Love the look and sound of the plane but I find trimming it in pitch bloody impossible. Either she keeps pointing the nose down or up and for 2 to 3000 feet per minute. It’s a nightmare to fly a distance. I am using a Warthog and have the trim both on the throttle slider for the large inputs (fine control impossible) and on joystick hat with sensitivity set to 0.25 (default.lua mod). I am stumped and help appreciated.
Bremspropeller Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 (edited) Same here, you can't trim her out. If you go heads down to throw switches in the bomb-box, you better have some altitude, as you will come heads up and see a windshield full of green or full of blue. You will get accustomed to it - sooner or later. I was flying the A-8 yesterday (for the first time) and I constantly had the urge to use both hands on the stick. Feels completely different. Even flying the Tomcat for a couple of minutes felt like I was hauling around a freight train. Edited September 26, 2021 by Bremspropeller

This curve works for me on both the elevator and rudder trim and I can fly pretty much hands off for long distances. Hope this helps. S!Blade<>< 1

I have Pham the slider on curve 40 but it stil to big a throw in the slider so to plane was doing a rollercoaster mocement.

Bremspropeller Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 A red bench at the pond - for those romantic long hours at readiness... My first time around the 'drome in the DCS Anton. 1 2
Gambit21 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 @Bremspropeller How are you liking the Anton?
Bremspropeller Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 It was a change after the Mossie ? I think it felt alright, but I have just done a few patterns and haven't tried it out against either the AI or another person.
Bremspropeller Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 (edited) Leaning into France - or so they they say. Testing the "Fortress Europe" mission by Reflected. St. Omer wasn't all that thankful about my visit. Not sure why. I left them two perfectly good chunks of metal. 500lbs each. I was just trying to help... Did I mention #2 engine was a pig to feather? Raising the dead and trimming all there is into the good motor. Airspeed 160-180mph. It turned out, it would feather eventually. Well, not quite, but enough to score an E for effort. Limping out over the unwelcoming waters of the Channel. Slowly creeping across the Channel at 160-180mph with a fluttering rudder is something different for a change. Eyeballing Hawkinge for an emergency-landing... On finals. I'm careful not to dump the flaps too early, as I don't want to VMC-roll into a tree, 50 yards short of the runway, just because I'm getting too low... Down, safe and sound. Out on another trip to St. Omer. I was surprised that the airfield suddenly appeared just below me, so I had to set up a diving attack. Having the ASI read off-scale high (500'ish mph), the flak managed to sink a barrage of junk into my airplane. I made it back, though. BTW: I have never before seen flying 8.8cm flak-grenades passing by. Ho Lee Fuk! Edited September 27, 2021 by Bremspropeller 3 3 3
MiGCap Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Same "Fortress Europe" mission, other side ... 2
Bremspropeller Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 I hadn't scared myself in a long time, so I decided it was time to do some Melbourne shuffling... After six ugly-a$$ traps, two close ugly-a$$ waveoffs, a prang onto the deck that folded my main landing gear and an explosive arrival into Ramat-David's approach-lights, I think I can say: That's been enough action for tonight. It's unbelievable, how quickly those groove-skills deteriorate. They'll come back quickly, too, but it takes a few passes around the boat to get back on track. The slow J52 spool-up time doesn't help much.
sevenless Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Would love to see something similar in BoX, when the Mossie arrives. 2

Jade_Monkey Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Still skimming the eager early adopters on Steam by not changing the price for the mossie for early access?

Steam takes a cut - I don’t blame ED for not dropping the price. You can easily buy it directly from ED and save a bit. In any case - worth every penny. 4

They set it ip in a way that now you are locked into that environment, I'm not gonna get the channel map or the other birds again so I can play the standalone. IL2 figured it out, ED not so much. Two weeks ago they said the price was going to be changed on Steam to 49.99 but still no movements. Hence my skimming comment.

I respect the talent required to make ersatz Oboe signals using standard Mosquito radios. However, it’s nothing close WRT any form of reality. It is worthy of WT I reckon. Hopefully a player can skip this “practice bleeding” requirement in the mission (just fly the sortie normally) or simply takeoff and land to grind through to the next. This is up there with future videos of BoX 1GCCFPs getting five kills in five shots using the Molins in a single sortie. Thus spake the old coot yelling at clouds and at kids to get off his lawn. ?
