1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I recently listen to Andy Sephton from Shuttleworth collection and he said that hurricane is unstable in pitch and in pilot notes was recommendation that you should not take you hands off from control column. He also said that Hurricane roll rate is better that any Spitfire also one with clipped wings. That would be interesting machine to fly.
CrazyDuck Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Yay, we are also getting the 2x40mm version! 1
BigMotor Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Excited about the Hurricane, my favorite ride in legacy IL-2. Thank you developers!
No105_Swoose Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 From the VVSairwar.com website: A number of Hurricanes were used for air defense around Moscow, where the 67th, 429th, 438th, 488th, and 736th IAPs were equipped with the British fighter. The VVS Hurricanes in this sector were engaged both the defense of the Soviet capital and in offensive actions on the Western and Kaliningrad Fronts. In January 1942, several Hurricane-equipped regiments flew in support of the Red Army’s counter offensives outside Moscow, and a number of the Soviet capital’s Hurricanes were transferred to the South-Western Front. In early 1942, the 1st GvIAP was equipped with the British fighter, with which the regiment’s pilots managed to shoot down four German aircraft over the Kalinin in March, and another 20 in April. On the Voronezh Front, Hurricanes of the 438th IAP were tasked primarily with escorting Il-2 Sturmovik missions against the Wehrmacht. A Hurricane on the North-West Front. Photo source: Airpages.ru In the summer of 1942, several Hurricane-equipped regiments, most notably the 436th, were transferred to the Stalingrad area. In the first few days of July, while flying cover Red Army ground troops, pilots of the 436th claimed 29 German aircraft shot down. By the end of the month, the regiment had claimed a total of 40 enemy aircraft shot down for the loss of 17 Hurricanes. Shortly thereafter, the regiment was requipped with P-40s. Question: After release of the Hurricane in IL-2: Great Battles, will we see the Hurricane and associated IAPs in Single Player Career Mode? 2
XQ_Lothar29 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 i love this aircraft!! is very necessary for this simulator. The Hurricane, fight in all Fronts! i love you Hurri, Jason.W and This Big TEAM 1CGS & 777Studios! Freycinet Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Great to see so many armament variations! Hurri fans, if you haven't already read "Gun Button to fire", then go and do it! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gun-Button-Fire-Hurricane-Dramatic/dp/1848688482 1 1
IckyATLAS Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Beautiful. This Hurricane will be gorgeous. Can't wait to have it. I hope that all the skins will be 4K, and not too shiny.

Cleo9 Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Fantastic ! Can't wait to start a career on the eastern front ! On the western front (Rhineland map and eventually Normandy), I guess that in order to be historically accurate the Hurricane won't be available in career mode Note that the second Hurri has been modified to accommodate a rear gunner.... ShamrockOneFive Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 I love that the Mark IId with the 40mm cannons is on the list. I am expecting to do a little tank busting with this one. It'll be great fun and having five variants adds a lot of value - thanks folks!
Alexmarine Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Looking at the 3D model it seems that they mount the oil radiator dust filter, will it be a modifications for the base Hurricane? Also, base +12 boost with +14 boost modification?
Dakpilot Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 The wip pics only show the C with 20mm, there are five versions Cheers, Dakpilot

One could imagine that we have the plane on top as standard and the tropical version at the bottom as an option in the list of equipment. When you select it you get the modifications on the base plane. As it is done for the variants of guns or bombs carried. 1
Trooper117 Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Now the Hurri is almost upon us, we really, really need the Murmansk map! 2

Thanks so much BlackSix for your detailed answer. I'm really looking forward to trying the Hurricane in SP career mode.
BladeMeister Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 I must say, I never understood why the Hurricane was not in the early offerings of TGBS. It always kind of ticked me off, but now after reading of all of the variants and seeing all of the pictures of the work in progress, All Is Forgiven. Can not wait for this one and the Yaks also. Keep up the good work 1C. S!Blade<><
mazex Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Awesome - and it reminded me that I had not pre-ordered them. Corrected
Jameswildwood Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 YEAH!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to get my hands on this beauty?
senseispcc Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 The Hurricane MK II any version is good news and can be used until very late into the war on many fronts, even on the western Europe. Thanks for this good news.

NumeroX Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I am doing my part to keep this gravy train going... What a great time to be a flight simmer! 1
Rjel Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I know this Hurricane is meant to fly over the Eastern Front map, but I have visions of flying it over the upcoming channel waiting in ambush for the incoming Luftwaffe bombers during the summer of 1940. Even though the Spitfire Vb and the Bf-109E7 aren't of 1940 vintage, they're close enough that some pretty cool multiplayer missions could be created. IMO. 2
mattebubben Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 (edited) Nice. I was just holding out pre-ordering waiting to know the exact variants/modifications. But this is exactly what i was hoping for. And this will be perfect for a Number of historical Scenarios for the Normandy map. In particular the Operation Cerberus (The Channel dash) and Operation Jubilee (Dieppe Raid). As we have most of the German planesets for those battles and with the Hurricane Mk II in addition to the Spitfire Mk Vb and with the A-20C (Standing in for the Boston III) we have a pretty complete planeset for the RAF also. Edit: Pre-Order has been placed. Edited January 27, 2020 by mattebubben
FeuerFliegen Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 This announcement is EXACTLY what I was hoping for... 12x MG option, 4x 20mm option, 40mm option, VVS option; I'm very happy with this! Looking forward to hearing about the boost levels and bomb/rocket options. Unlike something like the Bf109 G-6, I can't imagine too many people questioning the value of this purchase 1
III/JG52_Al-Azraq Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I really can't wait for those 1942 battles over Normandy, the flexibility of that map will give mission builders a lot to play with.
Jabo_68* Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Could the Hurricane MK II be converted to the MK IV version?
=NTAC=Professor_Fate Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 The IL-2 Devs are always working new angles, keeping the game fresh and exciting. I love what you are doing to my game, keep up the great work!

Danziger Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 To be honest, until they posted these latest nudes I never realised just how dummy thicc her wings are. 1

ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Had the pleasure of watching the owner of a restored Hurricane take his first 'solo' flight after Cliff Spink had delivered it to RAF Church Fenton from the local flying club. It had been restored to represent the night fighter variant that had served there. I was in the tower checking comms as the SNCO i/c comms and heard a merlin taxi past. Thought I was going daft. Ambled out to meet Gp Capt Spink deplaning. (Well respected display pilot and gulf war veteran. A real gentleman), he let me have an amble round it, and was waiting for the owner. The owner came over, in his Bell 206 and parked it. They went for a briefing in the Tower with the SATCO as there a few Grob's in the circuit. Briefing was to turn LEFT, and do some flight handling. It boiled at the end of the runway before takeoff and the owner switched off.....Cliff Spink zoooms off fires it up again and advises it ALWAYS boils over, until it's in the air. Off went the most wonderful sounding aircraft turning right....lots of ATC Chatter no flap no panic, and the Hurricane pilot was confirming all ok....! Did about 30 minutes and came in for an excellent landing. Came over to SATCO really happy...Until, " Sir, remember the briefing...LEFT!" He was gobsmacked and very apologetic. Everyone laughed. But I recall his comment, "You have to be very careful, it's trying to kill you." Cliff Spink agreed and advised that any warbird must be flown 100%, no rest no relax, and yes it will kill you very easily. Thank you for introducing this historically important aircraft. 1 1
