I was tempted to say something very much along those lines, but as it could have led to certain accusations, I didn't.

Great for those who have not dove in yet, and in the long run hopefully for us that have ?

Well i had been holding off buying FC, as i occasionally knock some fun out of RoF, but after the recent BOX updates and some clarity from the devs surrounding all projects and their continued effort to resolve bugs,  I decided to buy FC today.

More out of support for BOX/TC than for more WW1 warbirds as RoF can still satisfy that itch i reckon (That said,  I spent less than 5 min in FC today so cant compare the two yet really....)

Now I am only missing the two pre-order Yaks to complete the series ?

I haven’t touched the other chapters since I bought FC.  It’s really good.  All it needs is some in depth gameplay.

If the discount encourages people to buy it, that's a good thing. I'm feeling more hopeful about future development now since Jason's recent statements and various posts and polls shining a spotlight (at last) on what was feeling like the "forgotten" sim. It was getting kind of depressing. But that is lifting.

Jump on the jg1 server in about 2 hrs and fly with us in a Bristol, you'll go deep as you want and then some.

The most immersive gameplay I've had has been flying high cover for Hellbender without comms.  Felt pretty immersed and had that great war feel.

I've still got to give out a free copy since jason answered my FC question. Trying to figure out a good way to do it.

Thanks guys.  Alas I’m in that 90% that prefers good SP content.  Multiplayer games are such temporary things, and I’m more looking for something I can enjoy at any time of the day.  Not just now, but also in five years time.  A game that brings me 2-3 hours of fun once a week and at 4:30am in my time zone isn’t really viable for me.

You could try what I've done a few times and that is to make it into some sort of competition.  Perhaps solving some kind of conundrum.  Anything but a lottery.

Anything where the winning answer contains the words 'SPAD', 'shooting down Huns' and 'yes I will fly with you' :)

I want to be careful about how I say this ... but say it pretty bluntly anyway :)

If you want FC2 you have to buy FC1.   Period.  Full stop.  The end.

I acknowledge that nobody has the right to tell you what to do with your hard earned money,  However, if you expect development to continue you have to buy in.  1C is not the kind of organization that can sink money into an ongoing product and hope that people buy in eventually.  There has to be a revenue stream that justifies continuation.

My happy story is Kingdom Come Deliverance.  I bought in with barely a description and a demo.  What I got is one of the best games that I have ever played.

There is risk involved.  If you do buy in nobody is promising FC2.  You might burn $60 and end up with a product that you don't care for.  I have bought into others and not really got a good return - so it goes.

On the positive side is this teams track record.  If they are developing a product that sells they keep on developing it.

Totally your choice, but if you care enough to be reading this and you have a few bucks in your pocket and you have not yet purchased FC and you want to see more WWI content then you might want to pick up FC.  If you don't care to support continued development then that is a choice you have the right to make, but you cannot be surprised when development ceases.

Well I'm glad you brought it up, of all people, because I sure as hell didn't want to be the one to say that the $80 pricetag is indeed very steep if you're only casually interested in WWI planes.

I hope it goes down to $70 outside of sales, or even stays at $60 permanently in a year or so.

This is really the way to do it.

While not exactly the most popular thing ever, it's what I tried to do with the No Man's Plane challenge. The problem is that it required people to both purchase a U-2VS and ask their sisters to pose as girlfriends bribe their wives to participate. I still can't believe my wife said yes to it in the first place, then again it was but one in a long series of unfortunate yesses that started some years ago when she decided to marry a sim nerd.

Anyway, I've been sitting on this idea for a while to organise a 1 Me262 vs 10 D.VIIF and a 1 Spitfire Mk IX vs 10 Camels challenge. How does that sound?

While I do think it's great to get more people into FC1, we really have to manage expectations when it comes to FC2.

The longer an announcement stays out, the less likely it is that Yugra Media can just pick up where they left off and keep on churning out RoF remastered planes at the same rate they did a few months ago. FC1 may very well be what we'll be stuck with for a while. Someone here before said that it sounded logical to have an FC volume for every 2 WWII volumes, so if anything I expect word around the time that the first PTO module is announced, meaning we may very well be 2-3 years away from an FC2 release.

I agree. I'm sure FC is top notch and the price is fair if you consider you're getting a high quality product. I thought about purchasing FC after reading a few articles on Stormbirds website. The only problem is I'm unfamiliar with WWI sims and I simply don't know if It'll be my thing, so 80$ is a bit of a gamble.

I know I'd be supporting the devs, but budget is sometimes tight and I have to choose wisely. Maybe a standard version (eight planes instead of ten) or some WW1 collector aircraft to learn the ropes would be good for undecided potential newcomers before getting the full package.

I think I'll try RoF and spectate at a FC match (if that's possible) to get a taste of some WW1 action.

Also go to my associates channel, Dr. Paul Baer for a MUCH MORE professional clean cut stream from Down Under.

Too late, some idiot already gifted him a copy.

The idiot in question felt that his chakras were out of alignment for agreeing with certain people in this thread and both criticising the out of sale pricing and not actually making use of the sale price.

My bad. I got the two confused. Both are great.
