P47s of 404 F.G. vol1

The 404th Fighter Group carried out its first mission on 1 May 1944. Like most units of the 9th Air Force, the 404 F.G. took part in operations over Normandy, Holland and the Ardennes forest. It provided air cover during the establishment of the bridgehead on the right bank of the Rhine (Remagen) and took part in many heavy bomber escorts.

A lot of new skins are almost ready.
I need help with one of them, a P47D22 IRL.
On its hunt board is a symbol that I'm not sure I'm interpreting correctly. I recognize the broom and the bomb, of course, but what's the third symbol you can see on this decal sheet?

hmmm...almost a Rorschach test item there!  Looks kind of like a floppy boot to me- but I didn't find anything close to it on a quick search around the web.

Gorgeous Thunderbolt collection by the way!!  Keep up the amazing work

Thank you for the replies m8s. Yes looks like a sort of boot...

I remember some one posted  some of this kind of marking somewhere on the forum. But i cant find it... ?

- Here is a link to some missions symbols and their signification https://history.delaware.gov/2015/09/03/world-war-ii-mission-symbols/

- Below, a link to a short biography of Capt. Thomas R. Litchfield (1923 - 2017), the pilot of your promising P-47 D "Razorback" and of his brother Don who served both as pilots in 8th A.F. during WWII

http://www.chippewavalleyww2.org/Veterans/L/Li/LitchfieldDonaldD/LitchfieldDonaldD.htm

With  pictures of a scale model of his plane "The blond angel" (named after his wife Hariett) showing the unidentified symbol as a mix of a bomb and a broom. But I didn't find any close up photograph of the real plane to confirm this interpretation.

Looks to me like being more like marching German soldiers than boots. Maybe some troops columns straffing missions...?

Based on the photo of the model, these will be bombs and brooms in an unusual position.

Thank you all !

I just realized I'm going to have to make a second version of these skins. The typography of the tactical codes I hand painted don't match the reality ?

This will allow me to improve other things as well !

As the singer Bon Scott used to sing, it's a long way to the top if you wanna rock'n'roll ?

Salut Pat ;) quelques soucis sur "black panther" nouvelle version: les extrémités des hélices et une partie des flaps sont transparents.
