71st_AH_Mastiff Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) new setting works in VR. Vsync is off for the monitor is over 120hrz. SteamVR Beta version v197 STEAM VR custom setting with OTT hope this helps out some,. I'm still having issues with seeing ground targets. seems to be a visibility circle issue with FOV; I hope the DEVS will increase this. readyred1 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Wow, that's totally new to me. This driver with this setting is mandatory for all vr users. What a difference in the sharpness of the picture. Great, Great, Great ... uses the settings of mastiff and everything will be fine! Many thanks 1

I now lowered to 2x on Antialiasing. see what that does for distance spotting. Edited December 8, 2019 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
slojani Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Hay, How to add IL-2 BOS to STEAM VR Manage video settings for creating custom resolution multiplayer? There is no game in the drop-down menu. Only games that are in the Steam library. Thanks 1

Thanks click on the red circle add steam games, it works for this customization for non steam games where I place Betatest as example for IL 2 Greatest Battles. VR customization after adding a none steam games, go to Steam Vr Settings, Video and customization. Good Luck. Edited December 8, 2019 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
BP_Lizard Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Thanks, Mastiff. I'll try the NVidia control panel settings and see how it goes. 1
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 I have noticed I have very smooth FPS and average above 45
hayraddin Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Im trying your settings, Im wondering if this is smoother/better than using Open Composite.
hayraddin Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I'm wondering how are people claiming over in the forums to have 80fps+ stable, with 130% SS and everything on Ultra... Im doing balanced preset, with medium graphic settings on some things like shadows and clouds and sure, I do get higher than 45 always, but it oscillates between 80 and 55-60 all the time. I have ryzen 2700x, overclocked to 4.3Ghz and a RTX 2070 Super... my RAM overclocked to 3400. Wondering if Im doing something wrong, is it really possible to get the game looking really good and keep 80fps stable on single player/career/campaigns?

On my rig I am running the Rift S and it is at 80 fps the vast bulk of the time, with occasional dips to 40 fps when things get real crowded. Graphics pretty much maxed out. Only things I do not run is SSAO and HDR. AA at 2x and SS at 1.3 ( set in Oculus Tray Tool). I see 40 fps a little more in the Bodenplatte map than the others. But still quite smooth and still 80 fps the bulk of the time. This is single player only, playing PWCG Campaign. I run the Rift S through Open Composite rather than Steam VR. BP_Lizard Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 But your rig is a monster machine, @dburne.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 Yes that sounds right for deburn. It the game engine.
hayraddin Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Im using Rift S , connected with USB-C to the RTX 2070. And on the graphic settings, I'm trying now with High preset, high clouds, 40km visibility, medium shadows, HDR and Sharpen enabled, antialiasing to 4. Running with 1.2 SS in Oculus tray tool now. Doing the gpreset tweak, and adding max_cloud_detail = 2 instead of 1, to remove the shimmering clouds in the distance. (I also tried post_hdr=4, which seems to look a bit better than 3 and doesnt seem to add FPS cost) I get around 60-70 fps in kuban, with heavy weather, in stalingrad and moscow I manage to get mostly 70-80, even on heavy weather, and in Rhineland I get more close to 50-60. Those FPS are for PWCG and quick mission, for example in Achtung Spitfire, my fps tank to 35-40 almost all the time while close to the ground and take off, and get better with altitude. 1

21.Gr.CT.Ludovisi Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Hi, I strongly reccomand the Open Composite rather than Steam VR. I tried Mastiff's Settings with a i7-9700K+RTX2080+oculus rift s with SteamVR: ok in solo flight, but no way to play a career mission... to play properly with my system I had to set ss 1.0 and reduced details distance to nomal/100 km. With Open Composite, all settings flat out, SS 1.4 and very good fps, just some sporatid stuttering, totally playable. Thanks for the tips!
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) More experiments, I tried this change and while the clouds at extreme look very nice and sharp, the LOD and plane models get hard to see when they turn straight into you the silhouette is great but when low profile is turned into you you can lose them easy, (Heavy Extreme clouds in and out) FPS at 10000 Meters is above 70's, at 5000 Meters 52 and above, and down ground low 45 and above. in game is at 2x, NVIDIA enhanced at 8x. in MP I can see very far with decent results. the LOD on the planes I was picking them up out at 7km.
