Discussion of the Battle of Normandy Announcement

Recommended Posts

Battle of Normandy with planes which share (more or less ) 3d models with existing planes. I knew nothing from PTO, this engine and netcode  is struggling online.

Like many of you, I'm very happy with the plane set.

And as for the Pacific, although I hope we get there some day, I was actually quietly hoping to get D-Day before going there anyway.

You'll have my support.

Have a nice day.

Really liking the plane set wow! Map looks good too. Western Front is very popular so I'm glad they are sticking with it hopefully will get more attention and eyes on this great sim :)

Thats saaaad :umnik2:

Why on earth would there be one? What relevance does it have compared to rest of the planeset?

Pacific in 4+years yeeey!

Well here my support stops, was buying everything so far (except TC) to support PTO.

Luckly spit.xiv is collector plane :) and rest of the preorder planes and BoN i'll skip.

Time to redirect money to mtb bike parts!

I still think this dev team is best out there and wish them luck!

I was really hoping to get MTO cus the prospect of glide bombing ships from a million miles away seemed cool. But with the Me 410 and the ju88c6 coming Im not sure I care about anything else at the moment

Like the ETO decsion.

Lost of options to do with this maps.

Great plane set.

Instant Pre buy, plus the collector planes.

Just please make a grey sky and fix the current overcast to give the proper  English channel atmosphere, it will add lots to the immersion.

Doesn't look like the map goes far enough north for Leiston AFB.

Doesn't go far enough south either. While Monty's hanging around Caen the Yanks are going to fall off the bottom of the map pretty sharpish.

A logical next step, and easiest way to build up funds for even greater things later on.

Especially if they go into the (to me at least) most interesting features such as better MP GUI and Air Marshal mode.

And especially improving this engine and some of its limitations...

Fingers crossed for B-25 and B-26 as fliables. 😄

well I've no particular interest in WWII and always said that possibly the only thing that might tempt me out of the cockpit of the sopwith camel would be a mossie…

Is it a sign of weakness to give in?

This is a very good announcement for me.
Normandy is an exelent choice.
The plane set is exelent.

And this card can be declined in 4 versions.

After / post DDay
Battle of Britain
And WW1 version

I hope the AI planes will be a flyable day.

I will finally be able to fly over France !!!

I am very happy about this choice!  Not only does it fill out the western plane set, in particular the RAF planes, but the map could be usable for WW1 scenarios as well. (With a NML version). It covers much of the old RoF maps' area.

FINALLY, a BIG Thank You Devs!

Switches Credit-card-mode to "Full-Auto-Fire" and pulls the trigger...

Switches back to announcement notes, checks a/c list...

reads "...M O S Q U I..." and faints completely

Get your brushes and the black and white paint out guys! See you gentlemen over the beach! 🍻🍻🍻

Can't say I'm looking forward to this.

  • Yet again not the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre you committed to
  • Too many rehashed aircraft
  • Yet again no playable Allied bomber
  • Personally not very interested in the Channel Front

As of now, I can't see myself backing it.

Nonetheless: The best of luck!

To be honest, I would also have preferred the Pacific but alas, Normandy is also a damn interesting theater.

Besides the 109 and 190 it's an very thrilling planeset and the map is huge!

With the upcoming Hurricane and the Existing AC we can even pretend fighting the Battle of Britain.

The map offers lots of opportunities.

I just hope they invest a little more love in  the map building since the Rhineland map is quiet sterile to be honest.

I can't really tell, does the pre-order of the Premium BON include the two collector planes or are they sold separately?

Ha! who would have thought. Got Normandy and the three collectors planes, Yak's and the Hurri.

In the (discounted) premium, I suppose the spit14 & arado should be included? as they are usually in the "premium" editions?

Was really hoping for PTO, but can understand why they went this way.  PTO was going to be a pre-order for me; but really going to have to consider if I'll be getting this one or not.  Maybe just grab a collector?  I don't know.

Little surprised that the C-47 won't be flyable though.

It includes the collector airplanes, since any pre-order is always the "Premium" edition.

Very cool.

We're working East to West. Battle of Britain next, followed by the Battle of the Atlantic, then the Attack on New York. ;)

Nobody committed to anything, they planned to do the Pacific if possible, it was not a commitment.

The aircraft are interesting and although they look very similar, they are not.

The Mosquito is an allied bomber and is planned to be playable.

Nobody said the AI planes won't get playable later.

Jason also said he'll comment on the Pacific like when BoBP was announced so keep yer fingers crossed.

Please stay on board.

Have a nice day.
