Rei-sen Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) I have a few questions regarding setting up a campaign. Is it possible to set up campaign so that you'll get a mission say every 7 days? Can you change that in future toward more or less frequent missions? Edited November 12, 2019 by Arthur-A
SiPinto Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Hi, You can set the mission frequency yourself by clicking 'Advanced Config' from the bottom of your main campaign screen and then clicking 'Mission Spacing'. From there you'll see the months of the year and a maximum and minimum number of days between missions. Change these as you see fit. I have mine all set at 1 day...the more missions the better ?......in fact I wish there was a way to have multiple missions on the same day. This would be historically accurate, especially with ground attack missions, they flew 4, 5, 6 sometimes 7 missions a day. Here's hoping ? 1
PatrickAWlson Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 The level of action that you see in PWCG is way beyond what a real pilot would have seen. For fighters, many times they didn't even find a target, and many times combat would be declined or inconclusive in ways that we do not have today. If there were multiple PWCG missions per day fighter pilots would have 1000+ victories. I am less sure of the ground attack side but I suspect the situation is somewhat similar. IMHO it's just easier to kill something in the game than it was in real life. The number of ground units destroyed would reach into the thousands. Since a thousand day career is already (almost?) possible in PWCG and there are usually multiple ground unit kills per mission, a thousand plus kill career is already easily achievable.

It was a long shot Pat I know that ? and difficult to assimilate in the game. The Jabo and Stuka pilots did rack up 1000s of missions though.....the one's who survived long enough. I've been reading Rudel's book and another very good one called Stormbird by Hermann Buchner. It makes you wonder if they actually claimed for half the things they hit.
PatrickAWlson Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 There is a config in PWCG that allows it to register more than one mission flown per actual mission. I use 3 - so for every time I go to the game and fly I am . credited with three missions flown. The other two represent the non contact missions. Flying fighters I tend to average more than one victory per mission and it looks odd to me to have more victories than missions flown. 1
POC Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Hi, I can't seem to be able to find the "mission spacing" option. Has it been removed in newer version?

Mission spacing is done internally based on historical activity. PWCG is set up to fly missions in clumps. Take leave to pass some time. 1
POC Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Thanks for the reply, and great work on the software by the way 1
Tirantfoc Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Hi, First of all, thank you for your great work. I was looking in your software for the option to change mission dates. Let me explain: For example, the Battle of Kuban begins on April 17, however its campaign generator only leaves the option to start on 04/01/1943 or 05/01/1943. Is it possible to change the start date of a campaign? Or is it possible (in some way) to make the first days of April go faster? 1

Lots of interdependent pieces. like squadron airfield assignments, etc.

You could take leave for the first 16 days of April. The only downside is that your squadron would engage in some action "before" you arrive at the beginning of the battle. But that would be easy enough to roleplay away as previous pilot experiences and/or losses before arriving. 1
Tirantfoc Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Thanks for the advice, but i don't know how to do that. It is a cooperative mission and if I remove all the pilots I cannot create the mission.

Tirantfoc Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Thanks! I did not know of that possibility. My campaign will start on the desired day. Thanks for your great work. 1

Thanks for your great work. Leave is how PWCG expects players to manage time. It is required to heal from wounds. it can also be used for any other reason. I use it frequently to skip past less active parts of a campaign. For example, PWCG lets you keep playing on a static front of the Stalingrad map between the Moscow and Stalingrad battles, but I find the time period rather dull, so I skip it.
JG7_X-Man Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 @PatrickAWlson 3 days average is a good number! Thinking about Josef "Pips" Priller flew about 1300 missions: Flew his 1st combat mission with JG 26 on 11/19/1940 and his last combat mission on 1/28/1945 - 1530 days. This equates to less than an average of one mission per day excluding personal/admin/med leave nor weather related groundings.
