Online Squadron Skin Packs post here....

Hey Everyone,

I'm starting this thread in hopes that there are other squadrons that have their skin packs for online play and have everyone post here so that others may download them in put them in their game...I would love to see other squadrons skins when I fly. Please guys post here so that we can have a thread for our organized squadrons skins. So with that being said, let me be the first to post our squadron skin pack:

Is there any concern with other players using these skins? I wouldn't want to step on toes and be wearing a paint job that someone views as their personal colours. I would be perfectly happy just to see the skins on other planes.

1/ You accept historical squadron packs or only in game squadron packs?

 

2/ This topic, only addressed to P-51D or other types of planes or ONLY US planes etc...?

Our skins are historically based however we make up our own serial codes based on 44-xxxxxx and our Codes are the historic E2-x? per the 375th FS. Our skins are from late 1944 (post august) and we make up our own nose art or myself or Bugsy can make you one.. I myself have created a 1945 template that I will give to the squad. I just had to edit some things out that are personal to my plane.

 

We exclusively fly the P-51D-15-NA although we may have one or two pilot's take a P-38J-15-LO. Our we may have some guys fly A-20G's and we'll escort them. I'll be making about 3 skins for the P-38 for the 429th FS and the same for the A-20.

I am however working on a rather large skin project of historical skins for the 374th, 375th and 376th FS's.

Guys

You are welcome to use them and enjoy them. My goal here is to get all the online squadrons to post their skins here so we have a thread in the forums, so everyone can have the skins in their game to see others flying. I personally don't like to see players in the default skins. I enjoy looking at everyone's hard work. So please if you guys have squadron skins for your unit post them here. thanks!

 

Any style skins are welcome here so long as the squadron use them to fly their missions with...at least that's my goal.

I have made personal skins for the eight regular members of my squadron for about eight different aircraft but never shared them outside the squadron because the main reason I made them was so we could recognise each other.   Sharing them means we might see one of our squad aircraft but it is being flown by someone else ?

That is a valid point. I'm wondering if this should perhaps be done privately with willing squadrons with the mutual understanding of not flying other squadrons skins on public servers where they are present. I know SCG make their's public and I use them exclusively offline in career, never online, just to make the German flights seem more authentic. It would be nice if every Joe Blow in IL-2 that downloads available squadron skins had that understanding, as there would be nothing as annoying as seeing a fellow "squadron mate" flying near you and form up on him, but it's a typical flyer just using your squads skins and it could crate confusion. 

 

Perhaps whichever units are willing to participate, we could set up some friendly competition or cooperation with them in online servers to fly with, or against each other? Just a thought.

Most likely that wont happen at least not in my experience. I enjoy seeing others with a painted skin instead of the default. But if that's the case I would like to have any squadron with skins for their unit PM me with theirs so that I may share them only with my unit. We will not share them without permission form that squadron, if that helps anyone. You can PM me please with link and we can also arrange maybe a nice campaign with others. PWCG makes missions now with two different side available to pick from...So please guys lets get together and share privately or openly our skins..It just makes the game more enjoyable.

Since the Black Sheep is a PTO Squadron, we patiently await for the Pacific addon, but we've made the following fictional modifications to make our birds comply with ETO markings. We are somewhat like the TV characters! Everyone member has their own non-fictional nose art except for me who just loves the Boise Bee and Shadow who loves Jumpn' Jaques
