Hi dburne

At 5.2 GHz (No AVX offset) I am running vCore @ 1.305v, vdroop is 1.285v and max peak temps is 62 deg under full sysnthetic load (AVX). So pretty happy with that. Once I install the second rad an pump along with some better thermal paste, I hope to lower the temps further...

Nice - sounds like you have a golden chip there!

Wow, yeah he won the lottery in that regard.

4 cores is also plenty for IL-2 VR.

My 4790K has only 4 physical cores and HT off. No problem at all with IL-2 running at 4.8GHz in SP mode and my settings.

Hmmm. Might be time for me to turn HT off on my 8086K and apply a 280mm AIO (currently I'm on a Noctua air cooler, it's nice but not as good as a large AIO). I think I'm at 5.0ghz but with some AVX offset, all this talk of smooth gameplay with high clock rates has me salivating.

I have never run HT with my current rig, nor my previous 4820k rig. The games I play do not benefit from it and I get cooler core temps without it.

And I really do not run any applications that would benefit from having HT on.

I do run my 9900k with no AVX offset though.

Hi, I used the same settings as before (below)

ULTRA
Screen Res 640x480

UI Scale Auto

Shadows LOW

Mirrors Simple

Distant Landscape Detail x4

Horizon Draw Distance 150km

Landscape Filter Sharp

Grass Quality Normal

Clouds Quality Low

Dynamic res Full

Antialiasing @2

SSAO unchecked

HDR Unchecked

Sharpen Checked

Use 4K Tex Checked

Steam SS 150%, motion smoothing off

Hi. Tried your settings but not received quite no changes. On server Berloga, when several planes come in contact with shooting, smoke, drops, CPU frame time constantly spikes. Sometimes they are solid yellow wall going. Under any settings.  Apparently, only you have a smooth frame rate in heavy online scenes. I'm not saying it's not, but I don't know what it is.

And Yes.. The clouds are low it's terrible.

Actually, after the update, when other other people said they had an increase in fps, I got a bit of a drop??? I ended up lowering from ULTRA to HIGH and set clouds to MED. I also further increased the O/C on my 2080ti to 2125 MHz boost and I am now stutter free except for very low passes over the built up area on the new map (it seems to be a loading thing)

I honestly think that VR pushes systems so hard and that everybody's system is so unique that this is why we see the anomalies and differing performances setup to setup...

Good advice! I just turned HT off on my system and instantly was able to crank the O/C to 5.3GHz at the same vCore and lower temps (about -4) :)  I need to stress test fully, but a quick full AVX small packet test (hardest test) was fine!

Yeah, but 5.4GHz is only achievable with around 1.42v vCore lol (so I wont be doing that again lololo)  I have settled for 5.3 GHz at vcore of 1.310v no AVX offset with HT disabled :)

As long as it is not pumping much extra voltage under load, that is awesome. I can do 5.2 on all cores but am not comfortable with the volts/temps. 5.1 seems to be the sweet spot for my chip.  I ain't complaining though, it performs very well for me especially with IL-2.

The v Droop is about 1.285 under full AVX load with temps around 55-60 degrees after 1 hour (the water loop is pretty big lol) I have a second 360 rad/fans and a better cpu waterblock to fit yet too, I hope to get the temps another 5-10 degrees lower, that may allow me to drop the voltage slightly too :)
