mattebubben Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 (edited) Nice ? looks beautiful and i just love the Green P-38s. Hope you keep doing P-38s as there is a lack of P-38 skins atm. In particular i hope you do some 9th Airforce P-38s (474th FG, 370th FG and 367th FG) as those were the only units still operating the P-38 in northern europe at the time of operation bodenplatte (since all 8th Airforce P-38 units such as the 20th FG that "california cutie" belonged to converted to the P-51 during the summer of 1944). ICDP Posted October 20, 2019 Author Posted October 20, 2019 I posted the metal chipping layer I created for this skin to the skinning resources sub-forum.
Poochnboo Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Yeah, that's a nice one. 1 hour ago, mattebubben said: In particular i hope you do some 9th Airforce P-38s (474th FG, 370th FG and 367th FG) as those were the only units still operating the P-38 in northern europe at the time of operation bodenplatte (since all 8th Airforce P-38 units such as the 20th FG that "california cutie" belonged to converted to the P-51 during the summer of 1944). And yes, I agree with this. More 9th Air Force stuff. Mustangs, too.
Tyberan Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 The skin looks great Where did you get the nose art from. I'm having trouble finding decent pics of them.
ICDP Posted October 21, 2019 Author Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) I use Google then take the best picture I can find. In some cases you get lucky and get a cut paste and stretch job but sometimes you are left hand drawing from old WWII photos. Having said that always refer to the original to be sure the one you copy is correct. Original (from here http://www.americanairmuseum.com/media/2791) click on download to see large image. Modern warbird You will see subtle yet glaring differences to the girl. For example the WWII images has a blue towel with yellow stripes at the bottom. Edited October 21, 2019 by ICDP
357th_Dog Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 The original is virtually a perfect copy of "Double Exposure" by Gil Elvgren. The modern restoration is....not as good
Yardstick Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 If the bottom pic is of The Fighter Collection's former P-38L, I saw it crash about 20 years ago.

Hey ICDP à huge thank you from all BSS members! They wanted me to work on this very bird and then use that scheme for our squad skins. Would you mind including the Camo, Strupes and yellow props in your template? I would greatly appreciate it! Edited October 23, 2019 by BSS_Ripper* Correct typo’s!

E69_julian57 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Hi ICDP It's seen that we agree..... I need you to tell me where these air inlets are, I don't see them in the template. Thank you very much for your great work.
ICDP Posted October 24, 2019 Author Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) It's right here. Be aware it is one single texture for all 4 of those intakes. Same for the balance weight on the elevator. Edited October 24, 2019 by ICDP 2
E69_julian57 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) Thank you very much Martin P.S. I'm also looking for machine guns. Edited October 24, 2019 by E69_julian57
