Very nice skin - but in my game the  finish looks quite matt, more like pale grey paint than metal. Maybe my graphics card? Was the real one painted grey or a metal finish?

Waw amazing skins Julian!

Just looking for Earthquake McGoon P-38 #75. If you have time to it would be fantastic! Thanks!

Gracias Julian por tan estupendos trabajos!

Conoces a Earthquake Mcgoon? P-38 nº 75? Supongo que el Skin es verde con numerales amarillos/blancos como los demás de su Escuadrilla, no tengo foto de él. Cuando tuvieses un rato sería algo especial poder volarlo!

P-38 Lightning #75 “Earthquake McGoon”, pilot Lt Richard Campbell 37th FS 14th FG:

Hola E69_DaniV
Con la información que me das no puedo hacer mucho.
Los textos del fuselaje no se aprecian bien y los perfiles no ayudan .
Busca un perfil mejor ó mejor foto.
Si lo hago con lo que veo faltarían detalles.

Hello Dani
With the information you give me I can't do much.
The fuselage texts are not well appreciated and the profiles do not help.
Find a better profile or better photo.
If I do it with what I see details would be missing.

:salute:

Natural metal finish. It's difficult in this sim to tweak base layer and normal map to get accurate aluminium finish effect - some skinners get too much of a grey look (Julian's skins here), some too much of a blue look (Tom Weiss' Mustangs), some get generally too modern, glass-polished look.

Hey guys your alpha is tuned for painted aircrafts on aluminium ones.

Yours skins would shine more with a proper alpha tuning.

Just an example:

Great skin!  Thanks for making!

Also the template has the grey base paint for the green camouflage visible. Try deactivating that and adding a white layer under the aluminum layer, then reducing opacity on aluminum layer by about 10%. And yes, the stock alpha is not at all right for aluminum.

Here are examples of what I am referring to. The 1st and the last ones are the default skin

Enjoy.  Constructive feedback is welcomed.

Patrick

Do you tinker with alpha channel or normal map in your skins to adjust reflectivity of their parts? Looking at the screenshots (can't play the game at the moment) it seems at least national insignia and anti-glare parts are polished, while from accuracy point of view they should be flat.

Also, 100 number on the Putt Putt Maru is too low (compared to photos of the real thing), which makes part of it being cut out by oil cooler doors.

Hu Julian,

Constructive critique - the wing stripes on the 36th FS P-38s were angled in towards the nose not parallel to the longitudinal axis:

http://www.wardrawings.be/WW2/Files/2-Airplanes/Allies/1-USA/01-Fighters/P-38Lightning/P-38L-5_Lightning.htm

If you look closely at the profile you used as reference, you'll see the stripe starts close to engine nacelle, but finishes well outboard of the aileron tab.
