Marvel Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Hi guys, there is a way to have the same VR view in the monitor also? Now when I use the headset in the monitor I have a double view. Is possible to have only one (for a hypothetical spectator)? Ciao! Marco
Goffik Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 (edited) With the actual game window I don't think there is a way to do this. However, if you click on the SteamVR menu (top left of the SVR box) and select "Display VR View", you'll get a new window showing a single view. You can set it to either eye, resize, make it full screen, etc. Edited October 14, 2019 by Goffik 1
Marvel Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Hi Goffik, ok, this afternoon I will try. Thanks! Ciao! Marco

As you suggested works for VR viewer, but when the game start I can see the game only, not the VR viewer... Ciao! M

As you suggested works for VR viewer, but when the game start I can see the game only, not the VR viewer... Indeed, I found a fatal flaw with this method myself yesterday. The VR viewer is a window, so it will appear behind the game window when you're actually playing. If you bring it to the front, the game won't respond to any input. In other words, for seeing your own VR view or allowing someone to spectate while you play, it is totally useless. It's only useful for recording/streaming gameplay when you can choose which window to record/stream. What a shame! If there was a way to start the game in windowed mode then it would work as you could move the game window off-screen and out of the way. But I'm not sure if BoX even has a proper windowed mode.
Marvel Posted October 18, 2019 Author Posted October 18, 2019 (edited) Hi Goffik, you made a perfect description of what I wanted to say .... unfortunately my english is not the best ..... And yes, it is a shame. When I let my friends try the viewer it is difficult to help them during the flight, or simply show them first how it will look with the visor worn... Ciao! =SFG=capt_nasties Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 (edited) this is such a bummer because content creators / streamers are hugely limited by this issue. I use 2 PCs and cannot capture IL2 play though my capture card because of this So my youtube channel does not feature any IL2 content. Surely changing this would help promote IL2 on social media...VR is not dead but finding a good VR video of IL2 is damn near impossible because of the resources required to record / stream on 1 PC currently. You do not need the window to be on top to record it, use OBS and select the steamvr viewer (or Oculus mirror if on Rift) as the app to record.
Voyager Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 @capt_nastiesSo I don't have a recorder, but I was able to display the mirrored window on a second monitor while the Il-2 double view ran on my center monitor. Might see if that works?

IMHO its not possible to make a recording at 60 FPS in VR on 1 PC even with the NVENC encoder. Does it pull from the monitor, or from the output cable? Can you plug the second system into a separate output port on your 3D card? Option 2: Does your monitor have two inputs? I'm wondering if it would be possible to run two outputs from your 3D card to it and trick it into thinking that you have two monitors?
=SFG=capt_nasties Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 i use a capture card so it goes from HDMI out > streaming PC > monitor sadly I only have 1 HDMI port on my card so I cannot test using a secondary output. one of these days I will set up a 2nd monitor to see how good of a recording I can get out of IL2 in VR. But its a shame the developers have not elected to use 1 eye for the output for many reasons beyond just content creators. We typically have people at my house all the time so lots of people get to try IL2 in VR and it would be alot more fun to watch 1 eye
Voyager Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 @capt_nasties If you have display port connectors on your 2080, you could try an HDMI to Display Port cable, and connect the streaming PC to the output of one of the display port connections. Yes, Rube Goldenburg is my copilot...
=SFG=capt_nasties Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 this is true. I am wanting to make a "how to install 3dmigoto, and set up zoom in VR" video sense its a complex topic and I don't see a good YT video on it. Once I spend another week or 2 with 3dmigoto and feel confident I can produce a video of value I will go that route.
