6FG_Moonbeam Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Hello guys, I have an issue with the P-38 Alpha layer. To cut a long story short, I have transparent parts on the final result. The thing is that I checked the Alpha file provided on the official skin section (on the IL-2 forum) and each time I set this alpha file in the psd file (skin file), it shows me this error. So did anyone met the same issue ? Thank you in advance 2
PROX_ Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Man i've been dying to get into IL 2 skinning. Rap's has a very noice collection already. Is the template for the Lightning posted anywhere??

So did anyone met the same issue ? Thank you in advance Hi there, Not sure if you have found the fault but i had the same exact fault and FINALLY figured it out. Attached are two screen dumps that show the piece that was my problem... and from what i can see i bet it is the same for you. I fixed it by copying that exact part from the alpha channel of the official "P38J25_Public.psd" file to the "Alpha_P38J25_Public.psd". The "Alpha_P38J25_Public.psd" is faulty since there is a slight difference in the the black making that part go over the threshold to make it transparent Showing the wire frame for easier localisation. If the above makes no sense i will try and explain better Edited February 1, 2020 by morkaii 1 1
PROX_ Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 Thank you very much Yankee, very much appreciated! 1

What about weathering the Invasion stripes? Thanks! Suggestions are most welcome! When you say making them more weathered , do you mean more "dirty" or more like worn off? Or do yo mean not as white? Did some quick image googling of WW2 photos but can't find any nice references. Any good references are MOST welcome! Sorry for counter questions ?
Diggun Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) The d-day stripes were painted on in a rush, with not the greatest care and with pretty crappy paint. They chipped and faded pretty quickly, and often you'd see the shades of the original colour coming through the white underneath. These are some extreme examples, but... EDIT: I'd LOVE a real dirty Spit ix skin like that if any of you talented skinning folks feel the urge... Edited February 3, 2020 by Diggun 1
morkaii Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 @Diggun Awesome, thanks! Used the ones that came with the official template and just "copied" them to the top of the aircraft but will have another run at them to make it more gritty ?
morkaii Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) Update after some much needed weathering of the invasion stripes. Tried to wear it out around edges on moving parts, where ground crew would have been working etc. Also tried to make the stripes more "hastily" painted on Way better in my opinion - thanks for the suggestion and references! EDIT: forgot the OD version. Edited February 3, 2020 by morkaii 4
