Hi,

I've just tried to launch IL-2 where it has downloaded and installed the latest small hot fix coming straight after the huge update of less than a week ago.

Naturally the software then wants me to log-in online to update my game to this latest version but it  tells me it can't because it can't connect to the server, nor will it let me play offline until I have connected to this server to update to this latest patch it says it has installed.

I'd assume that if only seconds earlier it has downloaded and installed the latest patch then it must have connected to the server somehow and that this server is functional, or are they separate servers?

Anybody else noticed this odd problem that is for the time being denying me access to the game?

HH

EDIT: tried again a little while later and the game is still telling me it has lost connection with the master server and to check my internet connection, but clearly that is working as I can go online to post this comment here.

Don't know wether your issue is somehow related to mine,

but I get problems after 3.102 and 3.102b versions when I try to start IL-2 GB.

I can't get immediate connection to the Authorization Server anymore (have to try again as soon as I get the error meassage ... can't connect and then it connects as before).

Only then I am get online connection (otherwise I can only play offline).

My guess is that 1C should better restart their "Authentication/authorization Server" because it is somehow in a kind of "slowdows/contention modus" !????

Hope you get your issue solved !

Stefaan

Thanks for the info,

the game won't let me play off-line until I have updated, and if I click the "enter" button to go on-line and update after a long pause of watching the endless scroll wheel go round and round it eventually tells me it can't connect to the master server and asks me to close the software and check my intent connection (which is fine).

However if you suspect that it is the error message itself that is at fault rather than the connection not actually being made leading to a legitimate error message being generated then that gives me a few ideas to try by way of forcing things forward.

Thanks

HH

EDIT:  All sorted... basically assume the software is lying, ignore the error message and carry on regardless ?

@HappyHaddock and others having these issues (?) ...

FWIW ... the response I got yesterday from the IL-2 Support team,  and I quote ...

"Dear user,

Server failure has not been detected

Before authorizing:
- check the settings of the Security (antivirus, firewall, UAC ...) Make sure that they are not blocking the exchange of data with the server
- make sure that the update is successfully completed
- make sure you have Administrator privileges for your Windows account

- make all the game ports in the exceptions your router and security tools
Authorization requires ports 80 and 443.
  Multiplayer mode uses TCP – 28000, UDP – 28000,
  Downloader Port (TCP) – 28100.
- try to use direct cable connection to PC
- perhaps it makes sense to update the router firmware

Also try to re-download the installer from your profile and do a complete reinstall of the game."

Further In the IL-2 Launcher FAQ (at this Website) :

"Before you start

  • Remember that the game uses certain ports
  • Setup or turn off your security software (antivirus, brandmauer, UAC, SmartScreen, etc.)
  • Make sure that you're logged into Windows as Administrator
  • Open context menu by a right click on game's icon, go to Compatibility settings and choose to Run as Administrator

In case if none of these recommendations helps, please, re-install the game and place it into a folder with shorter path, for instance, "C:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad".  "

Hope this helps others with similar issues !? (YMMV, but in my case this did not work)

I would think that you too might report this issue to Support and then please report back here !?

Kind regards,

Stefaan

OK, thanks 77.CountZero !!!

That "clicking-one-more" indeed works fine,

but I am/was afraid that later on even that might no longer work !?

i started to have that problem first with 3.004 patch and some had it even before for 3.0, and it got fixed for me with 3.1, and now its back. So i was just ignoring message and clicking login after it for more then few months with no problem betwen 3.004 and 3.1, so i dont think youll have any problems if it stays as its now untill some future patch fix it.

Also try to start game without anything els running and see if it logs you in from first try.

Thanks again 77.CountZero.

Indeed, sometimes it does login from first try (no additional mouse click needed).

However, 9 times out of 10 I need to click on the login button again.

I never run any other app together with IL-2 GB, so that can't/should not be it I guess.

Strange that 1C dyd not address this issue or at least let us know why and how this happens (and narrow down why not everyone has this issue!?).

i dont think its happening to alot of ppl and its hard one to pinpoint i guess as its random.

But what i see is coasing it for me is youtube video running, so if i have youtube video playing when i try to start the game i will have that error and will have to press login again to succesfuly start game. And if i have same video on paused game starts all ok from first go. Thats why i tought maybe some background program running is cousing it for you also.

@77.CountZero

I guess you are on to something ... my PC is low end ... Core i3 ... most probably it won't get through the startup and login in time !?

Sure am now into buying a new powerfull PC (especially also for DCS ... which is much more demanding still!).

Maybe that is the case ... low on PC resources, dunno.

Thanks,

Stefaan
