Muddyn Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Hello PWCG Team fist off, thank you for creating this tool. i was always one argument short when trying to get friends to get this game since there is not much to do in multiplayer if you just want to fly together. but now i have an issue. i just installed this, and followed the inscructions in this video: but now, when i click Continue after choosing the mission that was created by the program, Il-2 just sends me back one menu and I am back at the option to choose either "Dogfight" or "Coop" i have created 3 campaigns to test this out all with the same result. please help.
PatrickAWlson Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Can you post a mission (zip must contain the mission and eng file)? I have not tried running a coop mission since the latest patch. Is coop PWCG still working for others?
Stonehouse Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) Co-op currently appears to be broken and for most people the symptom is trying to join a aircraft slot on a server and then being stuck in "please wait loading". Workaround for most is to create dogfight missions and just fly one side. Hoping to see a fix soon. SP seems to work fine. sample of bug description Edited October 3, 2019 by No457_Stonehouse
PatrickAWlson Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 @No457_Stonehouse Thanks for the response. Going to wait for that to be resolved before spending time. I am going to apologize in advance for any delays in getting back to people. PWCG 6.2 has some pretty significant changes and then this massive drop happened in the middle. Right now I have a pretty big stack of things to do and that will mean I am not responsive to individual requests.
Muddyn Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) nevertheless, since my issue seems to be a different one, here is the file. thank you for your help so far. singleplayer Campaign seems to work fine. how would i create Dogfight missions with PWCG? Cooperative.zip Edited October 3, 2019 by Muddyn
PatrickAWlson Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I think "Dogfight" is free form - jump on a server and fly. Not sure but I do not think that it has a mission format, or if it does it is quite different from SP and coop.
PatrickAWlson Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 21 minutes ago, Muddyn said: hm. not much of an alternative then. PWCG was created to bring campaigns online. Given the capabilities the game offers that means coop mode. If you think about "I want to fly in a historical campaign where I am a persona and I am flying assigned missions" and "I want to fly when I want. how I want, and what I want" you can see the conflicts. Coop mode allows for control and actually flies missions the same as SP. Coop also allows humans to fly on either side, so it need not actually be cooperative. But it's controlled. The mission is created in advance and the participants are scheduled to fly. When it is done the results of the entire mission are analyzed and time moves on. Dogfight mode is spin up the server and whatever happens, happens. That is extremely different from a controlled environment where missions can be flown and evaluated. It may be possible one day to dynamically create organized flights with a purpose just based on a map, but we're not there yet.
Stonehouse Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I am at work so can't check at present but I understand a hotfix for the coop issue has been released. Also draw Muddyn's attention to this tool which is very useful for quick generation of one off missions. Different purpose to the excellent PWCG but sounds like what you may be after.
Utopioneer Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I just flew one mission in a co-op campaign with a fellow squadron member, everything loaded and worked properly. 1
Muddyn Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) for some reason it worked for me today. then i created a new campaign and now it doesnt work again. even the mission that loaded earlier has now ceased to do so. i really do get how this can be. i let steam verify my files now. 1 file was repaired, but the problem persists. also i can't create new Pilots that are not hosts Edited October 4, 2019 by Muddyn
Utopioneer Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 4 hours ago, Muddyn said: also i can't create new Pilots that are not hosts To this point, you must first create a new "player" before creating a new pilot for that player. This is done all the way back in the main menu under "Administer Coop". Not sure why your missions are failing to load, do you own the map and plane you were trying to fly?
Muddyn Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 yeah i own every map and plane so that cant be it. thanks for the help with creating a new pilot. now whenever i try to host ANY kind of coop mission i get a message that i have lost connection to the master servers, yet dogfight servers work fine. ill do a fresh install tomorrow, really have no idea what else to do.

If you can't connect to a server sometimes the answer is to wait. Try again tomorrow before doing anything as time consuming as a reinstall.
Muddyn Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) nono you misunderstand i can connect to servers no problem. but when trying to host any coop mission i get the notification that i have lost connection to the master server. EDIT: A reinstall fixed all of my issues. thanks for your help though, guys! Edited October 6, 2019 by Muddyn addition
Muddyn Posted October 12, 2019 Author Posted October 12, 2019 just another quick question. do we still need a seperate DServer to host or has that been fixed now?
