LP1888 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Using Jason’s tip to smoothness and I cannot for the life of me get this to run smooth at all. I love this sim dearly but I cannot deal with the stutters any longer. Any help would be appreciated. Pc specs i5 8600k 4.5ghz gtx 1080 32gb 3000mhz ram ssd
Gambit21 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Jason's tip was to use the Nvidia Vsync, not in gave Vsync.

Can you tell me where was this advice was published? I haven't seen it. Thanks. edit: if it's here he actually says use in-game vsync? https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/34764-jasons-quick-guide-to-3001-graphics-smoothness/?tab=comments#comment-587054 Edited October 1, 2019 by kendo
kendo Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 No problem - thought i'd missed some new announcement...
THERION Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Gentlemen, until yesterday, before the update was installed I used the recommendations Jason published some months ago. All was fine. Now, with the new update, in game VSync seems to be a troublemaker and causing most of the stutter. So, just to have a go, I changed this and activated VSync in the NVIDIA control panel ("fast") and unchecked it in the game. Result: Much smoother and just one or two small stutters over Cologne and other big / complex cities. And I can live with that. Rest of both maps is smooth. Still wondering why the Prokhorovka map can't reach the approx. same performance like the two new maps. Just fly low over Belgorod - a relatively small town with far less buildings and type of objects - and you will have a fantastic stutter fest like never before, it's not only stuttering it's nearly a slide show... So I hope there will be some improvement on those maps like they did with the Kuban map, although this map had far less problems performance wise when released the first time. Cheers

The landscape mesh on Prokhorovka has 16 times the density. Buildings and other map objects are also more detailed. Therefore, the system requirements are higher unless you lower some settings. More info here.

Cheers The in game vsync seems to be the culprit bud it seems the kill the frames online the worst turning it into a slide show on moderately busy airfield say 5 planes taxing. Noticed that the in game vsync started to play up after the windows up date in late August. Anyone else find this ?
