Too late now probably but were you in the beta and was MSFS installed in the default location?

Or once I had it happen where the launcher seemed to lose where I had the MSFS package stored on my F:/ drive instead of the default install location and was looking to do a full reinstall as a result. Once I repointed the launcher to the custom location it loaded fine.

This is/was the issue…seems to be quite common after doing research on it.

Why it's all worth it I guess, nice little hop over to Kodiak Island...

Yeah, it’s done it to me before.

A pain in the rear end to be sure but at least it retained all my key assignments...

Wow - beautiful cockpit.

Microsoft & Asobo hosted their first ever live virtual airshow earlier today, minus some minor expected glitches and a couple trolling morons?... it was pretty cool, here's the link if anyone wants to check out the replay

Six nights a week the mail plane blasts off from Exeter bound for East Midlands Airport.

I choose my words with care, it’s one very old, very deafening 737F.

Now it’s my turn?

Just getting it to the point where I could put the auto pilot In was so intellectually exhausting I had to go and have a reviving cup of tea and a Bensons.

When I returned to my pc I found to my delight that we were orbiting East Midlands, albeit at the cruising altitude of 260?.

Deciding to disengage the AP, I then hand flew it back across England whilst fiddling with the displays.

After I found a setting that gave me the positions of airports in the immediate vicinity I decided to land at Cardiff and managed to grease it in quite nicely.

I now know that wherever this is....it isn’t Cardiff....

St Athan by the look of it, unless you were really lost. Cardiff was 3 miles back, and off to your left, with all the shiny lights. ?

I like it.

Up here Kenmore Air flies the Turbo Otter floatplane. Really a nice aircraft.

I may give this a go.

It's currently my favorite ride in MSFS.

Flying a lot more MSFS lately and must say that the sim has come a long way since 2020. Currently i'm flying the Britisch Antartica Survey ferry flight from Calgary to Antartica.

Yep, St. Athan. Nowhere else around here has that big a runway in the middle of an industrial estate!

Still amazed by how well it all runs on my clunky old pc....this plane even runs well in vr?

Osobo will not be competing with DCS on fast movers - it's going to take a studio that can put out a study level fighter for that to happen. This F-18 is nice, but quite basic.

MSFS is and always will be a civil sim, but it is interesting to have "lite" versions of some of these birds - DCS just can't match the world scope MSFS can put out there...the entire damn planet lol.

Yeah, the Carrier Landing is kinda unconvincing, I gotta say. nothing in terms of ship movment, sea in that mission looks kinda meh, LOD is pretty brutal on the ships, so the nice details on the carrier only come out very late and are not really a "wow moment"

That fictional hypesonic thingy though, is fun for a while, probably my most favourite part of the update, but it is not really "deep" or has these nice space-shuttle landing approaches I had hoped for.

Also: Flying the SR-72 Dark Star through the Arc de Triomphe in Paris is possible!

Can't really get into this MSFS F-18:

Flew it a couple times, back on the shelf it goes.

What I will be flying the heck out of is this sweet 310:

If you are considering buying the 310 - do it - I might like it even more than the 414, both are exceptionally fun aircraft and very well done.

Well, thanks to @CUJO_1970 I went ahead and bought the 310. I'd been looking for a speedier GA aircraft and wanted to hold out for A2A but as the 310 has wear and tear and persistent states I bit the bullet. Have to say thanks man! What a great little aircraft!

Also bought a new pc but that wasn't Cujo's fault. But I have thanked myself for that purchase :)

I've been using this mod lately.

https://flightsim.to/file/19345/msfs-2020-google-map-replacement

It's been around for a while now but the initial versions required a manual registry change - which is a big turn off for me - with awkward consequences if you got it wrong.

The latest versions are much more user friendly.

The game uses Bing data for it's imagery but apparently it does not use the latest data(!)   This mod gives you a choice of the latest Bing data or the latest, more comprehensive Google data. :o:

So far, I've found the latest Bing data is the best choice for the UK and Google data is the best choice for North America.  No performance hit btw.

Approach up the Potomac to Ronald Reagan National Airport

North Warwickshire to the outskirts of Birmingham.  Green roads be gone!

Looks very nice. I had a smile at 5:12 in the Reagan video  when I saw an airliner buried in the grass just before the runway threshold. That's what happens when you get too low on the glideslope.

As I've not been able to actually go flying for some time I splashed out on a new PC and monitor then got this sim properly configured. Christ on a bike it's good, set myself a goal of flying round the med and down to the bottom of Africa then back to the UK. Not as good as flying but it keeps my brain working. The graphics are just sublime sometimes and the persistent state available in the 310 means you need to take care of the engines. And yes, I should have closed the ATC box before I took the screenshot.
