Thanks guys, all your kind words of encouragement are appreciated ;)

Here's a little mid-February update about what was posted over the last couple weeks.

---------------------------------------

An update about our damage model

A few unsung heroes

Another batch of silent heroes

And last but not least, a big mamma delivered in a MP4 file for you to make a nice animated wallpaper for your Windows desktop

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/708311508488028271/1076504455136157736/Yummy_Yammy.mp4

As for how to find a proper, clean, free & no nonsense open source animated wallpaper & screensaver software and use it with it, there you go:

- Download the latest release of the free, open-source software Lively Wallpaper (available from the Windows store or GitHub, no difference, except the GitHub version is usually newer it seems)
http://www.rocksdanister.com/lively/
- Install it
- Grab & drop the Yamato video in there
- Customize (multiscreen, sound/muted, re-sizing, etc...)
- And there you go, enjoy!

If it kinda proves popular, we will probably provide more of these in the future, they will happily complement our static wallpapers after all.

There there. Enjoy your Sunday, all of you ^^

Hi guys,

getting geared up for a dev update on Tuesday (nothing as cool as what we've just had for GB but we'll try to look not too silly!)

In the meantime we've uploaded some of the videos we'll need for it. Enjoy them while they're still warm, things get old quickly this day, so quick is the pace!

Cheers :)

Very interesting this game, and it is by Microprose.

I think they used some basic elements (of course not the game engine itself) from

Task Force 1942 that was released ca. end of 1992.

I used it with my very first IBM PC.

And most interesting for me: 2 years after release of Task Force 1942 Microprose released a real flight sim 1942 Pacific Air War that based in many respect on Task Force 1942.... Would be great if the history repeats itself!

And now I realize that this was 30 years ago!

I meant this:

(I was not aware that it is still available)

And in the 1994 released 1942 Pacific Air War there was beside of the pure flight sim mode an extra mode to command whole carrier fleets, everything in 3D and when your squadrons attacked you could jump into the seat of a plane.

Aye Kraut, you certainly know where I am coming from, here ^^

Although obviously we're not the Microprose from 1992, but the spirit lives on in the kids who played these games ages ago.

And because flying in the PTO is hot, here is our (very) humble contribution from the last week. Remember that it's a strategy game, so don't expect 180+ QI reactions from the pixel pilots. Just want it to look good enough. Hope we're more or less on the right track ^^

Cheers!

Great flight scenes.

Am I the only one who thinks there should be a cooperation between the Task Force Admiral and the Combat Pilot teams? ?

Next batch of news. In regard of the Sepia thing at the bottom, it's purely in-game (so you can play it in B&W or Sepia depending on your liking if you want it to look very much 1940s or so) - so what you get here is merely an extra step forward for those who'd like to make guncams (no need for a color filter, but you still need to add all the relevant effects). PoV is simply achieved by picking the nose cam for the object selected, move beyond the prop disk et voilà, a cute way to watch your AI planes shoot at each other. For the duration of these trials both the Wildcat & the Jake were of course AI-controlled (remember it's a strategy game, not a sim ^^)

Cheers

Hi guys - here are the latest micro updates posted over the last few weeks ~

Our scenario selection / briefing screen / loading screen system is now operational. It allows for handy extensive editing of the briefing details using markdown & is provided w/ an embedded video player allowing MP4 to be played in order.

Lowpoly, even in 3D realism-oriented games, doesn't necessarily mean low effort, or ugly results. Here's Rizki's optimized 3D work shining under Julien's paintbrush in Task Force Admiral.
When you have a few dozens of these in a scene, you're happy they aren't eating away your frames!

And Here's a quick demo of our interactive dynamic map features Task Force Admiral. Strategic & tactical maps both allow you to display the wind & the cloud cover, so as to ensure you are aware of what it means to turn around into the wind to launch your birds!?

There there. As always, thanks for following us ;)
Cheers & have a fine Sundayh

This twitter thing is a bane, for all of you who do not have access to it. Wonder what's the point of that sharing button by now..
Anyway, here's a fresh youtube video, hopefully it will compensate for the hassle! ^^

I’m seeing anvil and hammer torpedo plane tactics, evasive maneuvers by aircraft carriers, cruisers and destroyers, dive bomb attacks, the skies and seas filled with flak, flames and waterspouts.

But nothing for a while now here.

What’s going on Amiral_ ?

Hello there Tip :)

Worry not we're hard at work. But I'd rather not overstay our welcome on the forum, it is nice of the Il-2 team to let us have a topic in here, I'd rather post links to the latest update - and to be frank I hadn't time to make a proper dev update in ages (might happen this week actually). On the other hand we posted a few gameplay snippets as we're testing the thing left & right, hopefully it will give you a few vibes :)

These few sequences are to be seen in this order (please pay attention to the descriptions too, it's all very much WIP as always, especially as far as damages are concerned.

Kates (yet to be uploaded on Youtube but currently on X-formerly-known-as-twitter-incapable-of-embedding-itself), below

https://t.co/KXuF5l8xh1

Then, on Yorktown immobilized

This one with the full sound effects was pretty nice too!

Thank you guys, always appreciated 💗

Here's the Kate sequence uploaded to Youtube, it's a bit more manageable quality-wise (and listen to that one chap roaring!)
As a reminder, that's between the first original Val strike, and before the last one that now feels like a complete overkill - but Yorkie is a bit too tough at the moment, and that will be tuned down somewhat. Still, had the AI been opposed by fighters, they might have missed the mark and Yorktown might have recovered her ability to move before the next Val attack, that would have been tough. It is actually pretty close to her ordeal at Midway following the first strike from Hiryu, except that she did not take nearly as many torpedo hits that do of course.

Thanks ❤️

New arrival :)
These ones are more about GUI progress - or why it's starting to look like an actual RTS (or more like a RTT, Real Time Tactics). Cheers
