Nmags35 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 When I go to click on the IL2 launcher the black screen comes up, but it says that IL-2 has stopped working. Fix?

We need more information. What's your OS, computer specs, video card drivers, etc. When you says 'it says' is that Windows saying the Il-2 has stopped working, or do you get an actual error message from Il-2? Have you tried launching the game through the regular .exe file instead of through the launcher? When was the last time the game worked, and when was the last time you updated it? Have you done any windows updates lately?

1PL-KJ-1Esk Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 I also can not install the new updates...it just says updates fail and it didn't happened before
XQ_Lothar29 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Open steam, I follow these steps, see if your problem is solved. 1-click on Game Library. 2-put your mouse on top of the game, and right click. select properties. 3-new window will open / go to local files. 4- verify local files integrity / click with your mouse. Once you finish checking, wait and see the results. now try to start IL-2 If this does not help your problem you will have to give more details. like what graphics card model do you have, card driver version
No601_Swallow Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 (edited) I think I'm getting this. Using the launcher to start the game, I get a black screen. Or no screen at all - just a new tab in the task bar, labelled Il-2 Sturmovik (Not Responding) .Alt-tabbing out (actually, using ctrl-alt-del to get the Task Manager) shows the program is "Not Responding". Grrr! I've tried the .exe file in the .../bin/game folder with no success. I've tried all the tick-boxes in the launcher and stopped all the other processes I can find. This is a fresh install of the game, after a PC rebuild and a six-month break from the game. Dadgummit! I want to get back in the saddle! My hardware: Ryzen 5 2600 cpu; 16 gb RAM; GeForce GTX580 graphics (although I'm about to try a new Radion RX580 card); Windows 10 OS. Anyway, any suggestions welcome. I'm a bit loath to uninstall and reinstall - it's a large and long download! Edit: Oh, and it's a non-Steam install. Edited September 5, 2019 by No601_Swallow
Taxman Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) I have the same problem. Using the short cut on the desk top I would get to the game loading screen but it would stop loading around 15% and just stay there. I did wait about 3 minutes and it just sat there at 15%, CAD out to task manager and it kick me back the loading screen, had to manually shut down. What may work, I just tried this, is I go into my game folder open the game then minimize the folder and then I use the desk top short cut to launch the game that has now worked twice for me, Hope this helps. No601_Swallow Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) Well, my issue is resolved! ?? Swapping in my new Radeon RX 580 made no difference, and neither did reinstalling the game on a different drive (in case there was something wrong with the download or install). I installed DCS World, which ran perfectly and blew me raspberries, while Il-2 would just open a "window" on the task bar which sat there not doing anything until it declared itself "Not Responding". Grr. It turns out I had a similar issue a couple of years ago, and lots of people had suggested solutions, but of course that was then, and can I remember what I did? Of course not! I never replied to that thread to say how I'd resolved it. But at least, having turned up that thread, now I knew there had to be some sort of solution out there! So what did I do? I updated Windows (which updated my .Net install and - I think - the version of DirectX on my computer). Then - and I think this is what did it - I removed the "Nahimic 2" sound management software that my new MSI motherboard had given me when I was installing its drivers. And Ta-Daa! I was in! I've now flown my trusty Spitfire MkV to Prokhorovka - landing softly first time after all these months! And that map looks gorgeous! ? Now to go and get myself a VR headset - I've been saving up! Taxman, maybe have a look for background processes and programs running. Maybe you've got some similar interference going on. GL! Edited September 6, 2019 by No601_Swallow Clarity!
Taxman Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Thanks601_Swallow. I will look into the sound management software. Also as soon as I posted yesterday guess what? Yep same problem. I just went into the game folder and launched from there for now that seems to work and will not use desk top short cut.
Kapteeni Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) I did have same issue. I can confirm that removing Nahimic 2 solved it! What a waste of time… i reinstalled Steam version and even downloaded/installed whole game again from IC website. I'm so happy that now i can finally play again. Thank you No601_Swallow! I'm not sure, but i think it is somehow related to win10 update and MSI morherboard I have MSI mobo with i7 7400. 16 gb RAM, Nvidia 1060/6gb. I also have new rig with Ryzen 5 and 1660ti, but it haven't tested BOX. But soon will…. Edited September 7, 2019 by Kapteeni
Taxman Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) I do have a MSI motherboard however I do not have Nahimic 2, but Nahimic 3. I am concerned that if I remove Nahimic 3 I will lose my sounds as I do use the MSI on board sound system. Edited September 7, 2019 by Taxman Changed text

And download/install i again https://www.msi.com/page/nahimic Without Nahimic, default Win10 sounddrivers are in use.
