Snacko Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 I just bought the Battle of Bodenplate, and I see the red tag at the top/right for it on the main menu. But when I do a quick mission, I don't see any of the maps. And when I look at Missions, I only have Scenarios for Stalingrad, Moscow, and Kuban. I do see the P-47 to fly. But where are the maps and mission??
Jason_Williams Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 You have bought Early Access. Map isn't ready yet. Jason
Lusekofte Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 You have to read Bodenplatte is a prepurchase. It not yet out
Snacko Posted August 19, 2019 Author Posted August 19, 2019 Ok, thanks. I thought the map was also an incomplete pre-release that was still being worked on.
Uufflakke Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 The Bodenplatte project is near completion, at the horizon, close to release according most recent Dev Diaries. From what I know release date is November 2019. So in 11 weeks it is the 1st of November already. Then the real countdown starts...
istari6 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) Do we know when the Career modes will be available? At the same time as the Map becomes available? I'm holding off on diving into Bodenplatte until I can "live it historically" by joining a squadron. The research that goes into the Careers is fantastic, and really helps the history come alive. Thad Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) Salutations, Probably no career mode on initial release. But campaigns are being developed. "Breaking point" (tentative title) Soviet campaign This campaign will be dedicated to the heroic deed of Soviet tankmen of Rotmistrov 5th Guards Tank Army that disrupted the German offensive at the center of the southern part of the Kursk salient at the cost of their lives. The massive, but poorly prepared counterblow on July 12th stopped the German advance and eventually pushed them back to their initial positions. The later missions of the campaign will cover the subsequent, less known stage of the battle of Kursk on July 13th - 15th at the interfluve of Donets river. Timeframe: July 6th - 15th, 1943.Controllable tanks: T-34-76 mod. 1943, KV-1sDuration: 10 missionsAverage playing time: 5 hours "Last chance" (tentative title) German campaign This campaign will tell about the operations of the tank units of Army Group South during Operation Citadel. Having breached two army defense lines, German forces reached Prokhorovka as early as at the evening of July 6th and were close to capturing this key area. However, instead of continuing their advance they were forced to defend against numerous Soviet counterstrikes that culminated in the massive battle on July 12th. The second part of the campaign will be dedicated to German attempts to encircle and destroy Soviet 48th Corps at interfluve of Donets river and the forced retreat of the German 2nd Tank Corps to initial positions when the entire offensive failed. Timeframe: July 6th - 17th, 1943.Controllable tanks: PzKpfw III Ausf.M, PzKpfw IV Ausf.G, PzKpfw VI Ausf.H1 "Tiger"Duration: 10 missionsAverage playing time: 5 hours Edited August 19, 2019 by Thad 2
istari6 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Thad - that's great news about the scripted campaigns planned for Tank Crew. I've been waiting to dive into that until there was more historical content available like Scripted Campaigns or Careers. Do we know if Careers will be available for Battle of Bodenplatte on Map release?
Jade_Monkey Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 @Thad you are thinking of Tank Crew, not BoBP.
Thad Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 I don't think so. ? Perhaps or probably later after release. Just now, Jade_Monkey said: @Thad you are thinking of Tank Crew, not BoBP. Tank Crew.
istari6 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) Ah, so the map & remaining planes are due in September, but the full release (including Careers) is planned for November? That's not too long to wait. Just hoping that the Careers won't be delayed into 2020. Edited August 19, 2019 by istari6

Even if the full release isn't until November or later, I'm sure PWCG will get updated with the new map and aircraft fairly quickly. I don't play SP often, but the PWCG tool sets up some pretty cool missions by itself. If you don't already have it, you should check it out. It's really worth for your time if you're into SP. S!

I don't know if the map is coming in that same release or not - that's unconfirmed unless I missed a comment from one of the devs. I suspect Career will be more like November/December. I think Bodenplatte will be done by the end of the year for sure.
J4SCrisZeri Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Same thing about the P-51, maybe? I own Bodenplatte, but can't see the bird in my menu list. Sorry, I launch the game rarely and it is confusing, for me.
Thad Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 What is so confusing? Only planes completed and released are available for us to fly. If it hasn't been completed and released, we don't have access to it. ?
357th_Dog Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 How is this guy a founder but doesn't understand early access?

Q: I was lurking at Bodenplatte a few times, as i live in the Netherlands and desperately need to bomb a few places around here out of sheer frustration. Was wondering is it's any use buying BP just yet without a map. $10 off = nice, but if you cannot use it? And if you fly over western Europe during WW2 the UK will be missed .... Cliffs is nice but quite limited and a bit buggy too. Are the incorporated planes already flyable in other scenarios like Kuban area etc? I also understand that some planes already came with the other three BoX versions i bought plus one or two separate planes ... Edited August 23, 2019 by jollyjack

To your question: You can't use any of the BobP planes in Kuban (which would be the next in time). Even if there were overlaps, they would probably not be added until after the full release. At the moment I think there are at least 2 scripted campaigns (one for the P-47 and one for the D9) that use existing maps until the Bobp map is available. Nevertheless, you can play all the airplanes released so far in QMB and there are also some MP servers like Combat Box and Knights of the Air that also offer missions with these airplanes. The $10 discount is for the Premium Editon (usually $80). So you save a total of 20 $ and get indirectly a Collector plane as a gift.
jollyjack Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Thanks, and i'll buy it here, not on steam; Olga suggested it's the proper way to support the developers ....

PWCG has a Bodenplatte career using the available planes. It uses the Stalingrad map so you have to own that as well. Once the BP map is released the PWCG campaign will move off of the Stalingrad map.
jollyjack Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) Ah, interesting info ... just tried to take off the dreaded BP ME262 from a grass runway, SP quick Kuban mission; ... couldn't really get it up in the 'air'. Not enough speed on grass it seems. Starting play at 1500m, Interesting experience, touring through snow covered valleys & stalling around 230 km/h, and boy, try to land this thing without too much stick pulling it ended in the drink on a small field between mountains and sea, LoL ... no wonder the good ole Sturmovik and A20 are so popular. Sorry, my career still sucks BTW. Edited August 23, 2019 by jollyjack
Hot_Rod Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Jollyjack - When the Me 262 first came out, several people made note of airfields that they had successfully taken off from (I kept a list and tried some of them out). On the Kuban map try the “Free Flight” (single airplane icon) near the lower right corner of the map (I didn’t note the airfield name). On the Lapino map: Try Dubki, which someone noted as being 1700 - 1800 meters long. Also, on the Velikie Luki map - at map grid 0916 - near the village of Kovali. Also metioned were Kalinin, on the Moscow map, and Kalach, on the Stalingrad map, but I see that you don’t have Moscow, or Stalingrad. I have successfully taken off and landed from those fields, but it helps to start your take off run a short distance before the beginning of the runway (also, stand on the brakes until the thrust overcomes the brakes). During your take off run, you may still be on the ground as you approach the end of the runway, but “rotate” (lift the nose) just before you reach the end of the runway, and you should be able to lift off after going a short distance through the “weeds”! For landings - try to touchdown as near the threshold as you can, but you’ll probably still go out into the weeds a bit beyond the end of the runway. Hope this helps - have fun! Rod
