VR Crashing game randomly

Details:

Pimax 8K

PiTool Version 1.0.1.180

Settings: Normal FOV, Render PiTool 1.25, Fixed Foreated Rendering Aggressive, SteamVR 100% for both Video and Application, Il2 on High Graphics settings.

 

In menu 64fps shown on headset.

Career mission Kuban 190 Jabo

Loading the mission after selecting proceed I get this.

 

 

The game locks up and then I get the wait for game to respond or Exit dialogue..

 

Just a heads up and it seems my i7700HQ fist core is maxed out causing the lockup.  Wonder if Il2 executable is doing this and if it can be tamed a little so that it doesn't exhibit this behaviour.  Need FFR on the 8K to render a decent image sweet spot on the headset and also overcome the issues of the headset design.  When played with FFR on and at a render target in SteamVR of 5k x 5k or higher, the image is gorgeous but spikes like these lead to the game crashing.

BTW, in game menu FPS at 64 is capped by the Pimax 8K running at 64Hz refresh rate. ?

Some more info, experimented with Lefuneste 3Dmigoto Mod with PP fix for Index and Pimax headsets.

 

Interesting proof of concept.  With Parallel Projections disabled I was running  two test career missions on PiTool 1.5, Large FOV, FFR aggressive, SteamVR 100% Video and Application (Render Target of 7364 x 4864), Il2 Low  Graphics settings.

 

On mission start the Il2 world (on the runway, 3D objects spawning at startup) loaded faster and Il2 remained stable throughout mission flight time.  Seemed smooth and this was both Stalingrad Winter Map and Kuban Summer Map.  With the 3Dmigoto mod - the VR world scale was way to small on the Pimax 8K but I will look into that but it was an interesting test and proof of concept.?
