I have tons of space on my disc hard drive but nit much left on SSD. I'd like to free up SSD space for DCS. Could I just move files to the hard drive ? I'm concerned about performance hit and updates working correctly.

If I don't just add another SSD, could I simply move BOX files from SSD (drive C) to hard drive (drive D) or do I have to run a reinstall process?

Any advice?Thanks.

I have Il2 on a disk and DCS on a SSD.

I haven't noticed any poor performance with Il2. Unlike DCS you don't need an SSD for Il2.

Loading times are shorter and I noticed that the odd pause in flight vanished when I put IL2 on an SSD.

You can just copy over the entire BOS folder to another drive and then make a new desktop shortcut .

You can't beat an ssd for playing games. I bought a 500gb external ssd for my gaming laptop and the difference was pretty dramatic. More so than I actually thought it was going to be. They aren't that expensive. You can pick up a 240GB for around 50 dollars. And when I moved the games from my internal drive to the ssd, the updates found the games with no problem. I'm probably going to pick up another one.

If you don't want to spend the money though, just go through your games and see if you have any on the ssd that don't really need that kind of performance. Like you, I needed some room, so I moved ROF off of the ssd and back to C drive. Being an older game, theres no difference in the way it runs. It sure did start faster, on the ssd, though!

When my main HDD drive died in 2016, I replaced with a 930 GB SSD and never regretted it. All of my drives are now SSD and will be for my new computer that I will be getting in September. Can't recommend SSD enough.

+1 for SSD. My new rig contains no Spinning Rust and it’s lovely.
