Ok, I don`t know how it happened, but my viewpoint in the cockpit is rigidly stuck in place. I can look left and right, but if I try looking up or looking down into my cockpit, the view stays in the heads up view and the whole cockpit moves with me. I can`t even fine tune my view though the target sight because the whole cockpit moves with me.

Any idea what`s wrong. I`ve tried a few keys to see if that will unlock it, but so far nothing.

What headset? Those symptoms usually indicate that the headset has lost external tracking.

It`s the Rift S.

Ah, figured it out.

I was just out of my defined room space. So when I sat down to fly that stopped the headset using all of its tracking.

You were basically right. Problem solved. Thanks.

Glad you solved it. As a side solution and for future readers, in Windows MR you have to restart the configuration room to restart the views

@71st_AH_statuskuo Click on the Windows logo in the lower left of your screen to display your apps. Scroll down the list to you see your Reverb. Left click and you should see a tab for Set up. Run the set up and your tracking problem should be solved.

If not disconnect your HMD from the computer and scroll down the list of apps to Mixed Reality Portal and select Uninstall. After your PC reboots plug the HMD in and go through the set up anew.

Also check in Device manager and you will see an item Mixed Reality device. Right click for Properties and update driver.

I assume you have SteamVR for Mixed Reality or you wouldn't have made it as far as the cockpit. https://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/

Thanks Gordon, I'll try those steps.  I read somewhere there's an order to starting up WMR, looking around in the Cliff House, then starting up SteamVR.

No need for Cliff House or touch controllers to enjoy IL2.

In SteamVR Settings > Applications check the box to have SteamVR start up when apps are launched.

First start WMR app and move the HMD up/down/right/left for it to orient itself (you will see the lenses light up) then minimize WMR. Place the HMD in front of you at eye level and launch IL2. When it begins place the HMD on your head and you should be good to go.

Once in the game you may not be properly aligned behind the gun sight. Press the key you have mapped for VR Default View and that will center you in your seat. The non VR default view is for the gun sight to be between your eyes. For VR you will want the cross hairs to be seen by only one eye. To change that begin a Quick Mission in non VR mode and press the Delete/End/Insert/Home/Pg up/Pg Dn keys to move your seating position relative to the sight. I use my right eye for aiming and have my cross hairs shifted to the left edge of the sight window. Press F10 to save that position. You'll need to do that for every plane you fly. You can now return to VR and when you press your VR Default View button it will return you to your last saved seat position.
