Five_By_Five Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 I've had six claims denied for this aircraft. All of these were shot down within view of other German aircraft and ground units. On this last mission I shot down four of these while my wingman brought down none (that I saw). At the debrief all of my claims were denied . . . but he was given one U2 kill (there were only four in the flight). What gives?
Flashy Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 (edited) Havent you heard? The U-2 is immune to interception from superior enemy aircraft! Its the Soviets secret weapon and cannot be destroyed by conventional means. Edited July 12, 2019 by Flashy
PatrickAWlson Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 I'm going with @Flashy explanation. Couldn't possibly be a bug in the code. OK, maybe it's a but in the code. Noted. Out of curiosity, do the P.O 2's show up as ground kills? If PWCG cannot identify a destroyed object as an aircraft it will default to ground kill.
Utopioneer Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 I actually had this same experience in two flights recently, and then checked logs and didn't have a single successful claimed U2 kill. I figured if it happened a third time I would post about it. I checked the personnel file and they aren't credited as ground kills in the personnel files. Is there somewhere else to check for that? Also, unlike other claim disparities, the AAR will actually say something to the effect of "Claim denied".
Five_By_Five Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 Nope, not credited as ground kills. I did get the "claim denied" text in the debrief. Seems like it must be some kind of bug. The other weird thing is that I believe these were the aircraft that I was supposed to "intercept" as per the mission brief as they had a red square box around them when I'd check the ID tags.
PatrickAWlson Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Thanks for the info. Since it is saying "claim denied" PWCG definitely knows it's an airplane. I'll look into it.
Murleen Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 There was a similar issue with the Ju52 where it would always deny claims - was caused by the name in PWCG not matching the name appearing in the game logs.
Yogiflight Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 But the issue with the U-2 not get claimed must be new, as I had one U-2 kill in the first Alpha, flying the 190.

Shouldn't be as I have not changed that. Could happen though if PWCG decided to award you a victory on grounds other than the logs say you killed the target (fuzzy victory assignment). Anyhow, simple enough to . figure out and, if it is a simple name mismatch, to fix.
Five_By_Five Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 I still have the mission files etc. Be happy to send them to you if they'd be helpful (I'm no techie so I don't know if they would or not).
Five_By_Five Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 Also just noticed that all of the aircraft that I destroyed were noted as "damaged" in the debrief but none of them were listed as kills. They all definitely went down. Hard.
PatrickAWlson Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Fixed. Will be available in the next release (today or tomorrow). Thanks for the report. 1 1
Five_By_Five Posted July 14, 2019 Author Posted July 14, 2019 Thanks Patrick! Stupid question . . . where do I get the update and can I install it over the old program without affecting my current campaign?
Poochnboo Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 "But I know I shot it down! I SAW it crash!" "Then you have the pleasure of knowing that you have served the Fatherland!"
Yogiflight Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 @Five_By_Five PWCG 6 went final on Thursday. It replaces PWCG 5.1.3 at this point. Easiest thing to do is save the campaigns if you want to, delete PWCG 5, install 6 and then recopy the campaigns. PWCG6 has a built in 5-6 converter. Download link is in Patrick's first post in the PWCG 6.0.0 Released thread
