BOX : HOW TO jump into other plane in-flight ?

Hi IL-2 pilots,

 

I'm new to IL-2 BOX, but love it already [FWIW I do have, a.o., a DCS background].

 

Please excuse me if this has been asked before, but I could not find it in the manual or forums...

AFAIK the in-flight map (M) or O-bjective options do not allow me to swap/jump into other airplanes (BOX) or vehicles (TC).

In IL-2 COD I found how to jump into another plane (using Function keys, activating mouse cursor ...).

But how does such a procedure work in IL-2 BOX ???  (having read it presumably has a more advanced game-engine based on 'ROF'?)

This Sim also has quite some learning curve (although I know a bit about/from DCS, but still ...).

 

Please shed some light on this for me ?

BTW I get so much more FPS from IL-2 BOX compared to DCS World ... WOW. 

The "WWII war experienace" of IL-2: BOX seems way better then DCS WWII environment to me ... much more 'true atmosphere' here.

Hello Simfan2015.

 

Cliffs of Dover, and IL2 Great Battles series of titles are very different game engines. I may be mistaken, but so far as I know it is not possible to jump into another aircraft while a flight is in progress. It is possible through playback of a flight recording to jump to other units, both aircraft and ground, at least in third person camera views.

BTW. I truly regret that I did not sooner got to know IL-2: BOX !

In my 25+ years of simming (DCS and so many other great titles) I somehow skipped IL-2 because it was 

Russian-Eastern-front-ONLY ... at the time.

BOBp triggered my intrest though ... and now I am so glad to get to know IL-2 Stumovik.

There is no turning back because IMHO the IL-2 WWII theathre seems more true-to-life than e.g. DCS WWII (although I will keep buying all DCS-WWII-related modules as well, if only to compare it against IL-2 :-)).

So anticipating the further improvements to my IL-2 BOBp & TC modules !

To support the Devs (and also because of ongoing summer-sale ?) I bought the other IL-2 BOX titles as well.

Hi @simfan2015, you cannot take control of another plane/tank during the same mission, that feature does not exist in BOX.

 

This is a feature that I would love to see one day, for those instances when you get shot down but are too invested in a mission. It would be nice to be able to take control of your wingman's plane to keep going and finish the mission.

Love this utility in CloD Blitz-it allows endless variations in any Single missions.Also allows you to change to another plane group at the start of a mission,again allowing for many variations to the same mission.

BTW : Big changes coming soon to CloD according to the Cliffs of Dover section found in the menu bar above.
