von_Michelstamm Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Trying to pick springs for my vkb gunfighter pro. do real planes have the exact same resistance on both pitch and roll? If not, which one should have the stronger spring? what about damping? Do sticks ease back to center when released or do they oscillate? Which axis oscillates more?
SCG_motoadve Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 More resistance at pitch than roll, easy back to center, no oscillation, they move freely. Plane I fly uses push rods, super quick response. 1

Caution with springs, are cases of VKB gimbal* parts bent when the user exaggerates in their "Quest for the Feel Simulator". ? Is not possible set a commercial joystick for work like a real in aircraft, you need build one based on original drawings, for achieve the different leverage, operation forces.... And even for same plane, e.g. Spitfire, leverage is different for sub-versions. https://i.postimg.cc/wTsgQMfX/Spitfire-30015-SHT-1-G-Control-Rigging.jpg This NACA documents suggest that (Spitfire??) forces for aileron operation right/left are different. https://i.postimg.cc/t4K5nS1d/Spitfire-stick-forces-2.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/G2rxq4xH/Spitfire-stick-forces-3.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/DZgdD7x5/Spitfire-stick-forces-4.jpg * VPC T50Cm gimbal seems more sturdy for this experiments. WingWing gimbal too, but this still needs to be proven. Edited July 4, 2019 by Sokol1 1
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 VPC viripil I use harder (more tension) spring on pitch and less tense spring on roll axie.
von_Michelstamm Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 On my vkb, I’m now running 50+30 on pitch and 50+20 on roll. It feels very nice! Now Fine tuning the dry clutches

Rei-sen Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I guess this could be close to a real thing: With proper FFB in the game, we could get accurate stick forces for all ACs at various modes, like soft and sloppy on the ground and super stiff at 600+ km/h. I think it's only a matter of time till these devices will be widely available. Since it's the only way to get a realistic feel in "game" controllers. 1
