Thank you Jaws2020 for that valuable and illustrated information !

It comes down to CPU multicore support and, probably most of all, about the ... GPU.

I really believe longing for a 2020 next gen AMD or Nvidia GPU is a better bet than getting that new even-more-cores CPU ... for gaming only !?

Depends what is going on. Just flying in the green map gives me 100% load on one thread and 0% on all 19 other threads. Having a complicated cockpit and lots of going on changes that picture

That´s fair, the more heated scenario the more cores are loaded with other threads.

But in IL-2 it doesn´t seem to follow that. Independently of how complex is the scenario it seems that nore more than 4-6 cores are loaded.

In VR, if you fly a simple dogfight 1.vs.1 at 3000m then you get full 80 fps (or 90fps).

But when you are in a complex mission with many planes around and attacking multiple ground forces in low flight (the Achtung Spitfire mission infantry landing support is a good example!) the fps go down to 40 or even 30!.

All this extra AI of all other elements could be done of parallel threads.

Total burn on the high-end Ryzens on Amazon this morning. I checked and the 3700X was at $300Cdn. and the 3900X at $515Cdn. as the main listed prices on the page. And those are great prices! I put the 3700x into my cart and was going to buy that sucker on the spot, and then I noticed it was from a third-party seller. I checked the reviews for that seller and there were exactly two:

1) - The pants were too small and I returned them and the seller made me pay for the postage.

2) - Item never arrived.

Thus endeth the 3700X great price dream.

I reported the listing as a probable fraud and now it's off the page and the main listed price is back to normal.
