Need A Little Help

Guys, forgive me for not searching the forum but I just do not know where to start. I have not played IL2 or Pacific Fighters since I purchased all three games NEW when they were released!!!!. I still have all three boxes and I am interested in getting back into the game. I tried to install Pacific Fighters stand along in my new Aleinware R7. After all these years I think I finally have a comuter that can run the game in full effects BUT the game is old and I cant get it started. DirectX is out dated and I don't know were to start.

I am starting from ground zero and I can not remember the steps to get everything updated. I am even still going to have to use the CD rather than the auto run code for now.

Honestly, I think those games, even if you could install them would seem dated to you now.

Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow, Battle of Kuban, and the soon to be released Battle of Boddenplatte, are all made with the same game engine and the content is accessed through the same client. the first three titles go on sale at sometimes greater than 50% discounts a few times a year so you could pick them up for a real bargain.

The current game engine uses DX11, is great for VR and looks beautiful if you prefer to use a monitor. The current iteration of IL2 also has one of the most convincing "feelings of flight" I've come across in any sim, subjective I know but that combined with VR is the main reason I love flying here.

These boxed version are nice for collection, but really, just rebuy full 1946 version. It's cheap, it's often on sale and it will work without any problems.

Buy it here if you don't mind steam

Indeed they look dated these days, even with some mods installed.

However, if you want to save an awful lot of time and hassle with installing the games and hunting for patches etc, I would recommend purchasing the complete pack over on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/15320/IL2_Sturmovik_1946/ as you get everything you need updated for around £8  at time of posting. I understand that you already have the discs but it cuts back on a lot of searching the internet for patches and issues with running the game.

You can also pop over to this section of the forum for more news and info  https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/123-general-discussion/

Edit: - InProgress just beat me too it ;)

I tried to play it fairly recently but the out-dated audio is more sour to me than the graphics. I'm weird like that.

I do have 1946, loaded it and it works fine. The reason I stopped flying was because I like Pacific theater rather than European.

1946 includes all expansions. It has Pacific Fighters expansion. You just have to pick what you want in menu when you start game.
