Yak 1 PWCG Coop Campaign

... the Yak 1 COOP campaign! We wanted to do a Russian campaign and fly a plane with a little more to manage. However, this was our first flight ever in this crate with very little prep work, so don't expect too much the first time out of the corral!

The ones with square tips were E-7s and the ones with round tips were F-4s.   The E-7 should be easy to beat but the F4 is harder.

Ahhhhhh.... the Saturday morning campaign viewing, my fave!! Nice one. The Yaks are a tad more nimble than the 109's, especially the lower you get. Once they get down to lower alt their B+Z method doesn't work as well (the 109's, obviously) and you can slow them down even further by just wigglin' and a wobblin' and staying out of the guns.

... and the ones with the Q - tips?

Thank you, good tip! Hopefully, once we are up to speed on the Yaks, we'll have a little better showing...

Okay, Okay, so we are not exactly on a good glide path of the learning curve, but we will get it worked out, we are only on the second pilot each of the new campaign!

The Yak's got a lockable tailwheel and when it's UNlocked it has differential brakes operated by the left and right rudder position when the brakes are held down. It doesn't turn at all  really when it's locked but can be a little 'enthusiastic' when unlocked (90 max)!!.

Aaahhh, the dog!! A welcome return after the autonomous door - creak!!

ps Black smoke from the engines generally means he aint gonna make it home as well.

pps Duster says HI to the mutt!! AshMw2Y.jpg

He's normally asleep right behind my chair and always wakes up whenever  he hears that bark. He then instantly goes back to sleep again.

PPPS Thanks for the Monday morning viewing. It's getting to be like watching a good soap opera (IS there such a thing??).

Man, that picture looks like the answer to the question "How can you be sure that someone is truly happy? When they look like this!"

Here's the last for a bit as I will be vacationing over in your neck of the woods! Of course, we went through that whole mission and then my computer crashed so we get no credit for it!  *sigh*

Hey, have a GOOD one and don't drink the water (not if you end up in Yorkshire anyway!!).

Rap

:good:

and PS, the dog's awake again!! Ears pricked and everything... oh... nope, he's back asleep again after a wistful and slightly annoyed sigh.

AAAAAAND...we're back! A straightforward line patrol shows what 2 weeks away can do to our memory of keybindings and flight performance...

The boys are back in town! Creaky door and all. Rap's friday morning viewing is fulfilled (although I did have a moment having to explain, "Some guy just exploded in my face" to Mrs Rap!!). Good holiday Mr R? (that's how we say 'vacation' over here)... :salute:

Yes, it was great! London and Paris! Driving on the British side of the road was as harrowing as any IL2 flight. Other than the fact that as of yesterday all my baggage was still in Ireland, we pulled through ok!

London and Paris eh? Nice one. If yer stuff's still in Ireland at least any perishables will be kept fresh, it always rains! Good luck with that then.

A straight-forward ground attack mission. One of the weaknesses seems to be the number of ground units rendered, so it does become a bit of hunt and peck. After finding some targets. we went off to help our escorts fight off their attackers, only to find that they had it well in hand! Home and a Vodka for us then!

Sunday morning? Nothing to do? Watch one of these!!

We were flying some campaign missions when GeForce Experience went down, so I had to resort to the in game recorder, which does give it an interesting spin. Of course, it is minus all of our usual commentary. Whether that is good or bad, I leave to you!

That is one HELLUVAn unfortunate 'uberlag' going on there!!

Rick_Rawlings

I know, right? That was the first  fight in PWCG that I would classify as a "Furball". There were over 20 aircraft in the air. I wonder if anyone get this much lag?

I've seen some vids with bad lag but I'd say that this is definitely on a par. Yours aint normally that bad. I was just playing a @samson campaign ('Allmost') with a LOT of units in the air and yeah, the whole thing started slowing down a bit but not nearly the 'jerkiness' in that little incident!!

Yes. Unfortunately, I haven't played enough with the built in career mode to see how it handles that many craft. I do look forward to giving Pat's new version a spin!

I've dabbled. It gives the option of the new planes, which is good. The version is kinda 'on ice' at the moment I think, waiting for the Bodenplatte map.

So... we were supposed to attack infantry. But of course, we couldn't find infantry, or really anything else enemy-wise to attack on the ground either, so we went with the best we could find, some enemy bombers, which we seemed to have much more success with!

As I said on YouTube, when one Yak 'presents' to another on the airfield I'm afraid an ensuing 'romantic encounter' is almost always inevitable. Yaks are renowned for it!

I suppose it is the best way to get baby yaks!

I believe the technical term is actually 'Yaklets'?

...and finally things come together! We get a rail yard attack, which it's pretty easy to spot a rail yard and the associated train. We did some damage, got some credit and made it back, yay!

Good mission! Was that in the Yaklets or in the Parent Planes?

ps Sometimes if you bombdrop too low and at too shallow an angle then the percussion doesn't happen and they won't explode...

Aha! Maybe that was it! Thanks for the tip! :good:

Ugg, it was bound to happen sooner than later! My excuses are that my Track IR was a bit wonky, the plane was being a bit wonky and the multiplayer lag was a bit wonky. The real reason is that I was a bit upset that my first pass hadn't dropped him as I'd felt that I prosecuted it well. So I stayed on him in the second pass too long. Oh well!

The curses and pitfalls of target fixation in a Yaklet! It's what you get from messing around with youngsters!!

Well... yeah... the gene - pool can only be rendered SO shallow before the signs become visible!!

So after Repete Russianski went down, we tried to continue the career with a new pilot for me, but for some reason, our version of PWCG stopped working and couldn't find any logs for the next several missions. So technically, these next few videos never actually happened: that's right, we are going with the "It was all just a dream" explanation ! Which was particularly hard on Brenged as this next mission was his best ever, with three enemies shot down and no official recognition!

...so we thought we would try a new campaign with the LaGG 3

I didn't say it was a good idea... but PWCG still wasn't picking up mission reports. We finally had to swap over to the new version and then it worked.

Which leads us to...
