FTC_Mephisto Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 Very strange indeed. Anybody tried this with IL-2? 1 1
Guest deleted@134347 Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 the interesting part starts at 7:20.. essentially this points to an nonoptimized process somewhere.. either whithin driver or a game engine. I'll test it out on my evga later with il2, i wonder if the effect will be this pronounced..
Dutch2 Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 (edited) 30% they were talking about 50% https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/45025-dcs-official-upcoming-improvement-on-vr-performance-by-50/?tab=comments#comment-752808 So this 30% in DCS is much to low. Time for 1C to take some improvement steps in VR. Edited May 27, 2019 by Dutch2
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 I tried it, didn't notice anything. But I didn't test it with a dedicated 1min test track. Maybe someone wants to do that.
FTC_Mephisto Posted May 27, 2019 Author Posted May 27, 2019 Does the test track work under the curren game version?

Hope some day IL2 devs give us some optimisation aswell, since we all know there is no way back to flat screens once entered VR. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?s=3c4f7af1298d805ff4f9cf14f9ce7ed9&p=3869786&postcount=2333 Now with the quote, as @ECV56_Lubermatz was the poster that did talk about first Edited May 27, 2019 by Dutch2
JonRedcorn Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 This videos not about the DCS performance improvement it's some stupid glitch in evga precision overclocking software... 1

You are right sorry End of the month my mobile-phone bundle is now at its limit phase, so no movies, at home it shows indeed that I was wrong, but anyway the topic is very interesting to test, as if it looks he is only fiddling with EVGA overclocking software. I will try if I have the same results in my overclocking tool the Afterburner, as it seems in a later video from SWEviver, it does work with afterburner and on other games. Just clicking clicking and clicking on the default button I suppose. Very interesting finding. Edited May 28, 2019 by Dutch2
Dutch2 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) As an benchmark mission I do use the Fire and Ice mission, using auto pilot. I did the test one mission with my normal overclocked GTX1080 saved in a OCprofile and one “click the click” (12 times) on default and then put in my overclock profile. Absolute no improvement all, in both fpsVR and in FCAT-VR log system. Think this SWEPimax guy has a problem with his system. Edited May 28, 2019 by Dutch2
BlackMambaMowTin Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I love SweViver but he sometimes jumps to conclusions and makes these outrageous claims. You really need to test your claims and have others verify them on their systems. Is he exclusively a piMax pitchman now?
Alonzo Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 He's a Pimax community manager, I believe, so yes, he basically pitches for Pimax. He's also a YouTuber so creates 15 minute clickbait videos to talk about some weird glitch in his system. I'm really pretty much done with YouTube videos where the content could be summarized in a 4 sentence paragraph... sigh. 4

I stopped watching it after 2 minutes with at least 20+ clicks.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 (edited) Doesn't work with MSI Afterurner + Odyssey. I must admit there was hope haha. But I'm probably not taxing my GPU enough anyway, CPU is the bottleneck Edited May 31, 2019 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf
Dutch2 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 As I’m totally not involved into DCS or have knowledge from this game. Just being curious: Is on the DSC forums any news on that clicking improvement. 1

C6_lefuneste Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 (edited) It works, but only with the Pitool 1.0.1.129 Beta and with DCS. Not linked to the EVGA software, I made it run with nvidia inspector and also with the tool of karajzk: https://forum.pimaxvr.com/t/the-gpu-utilization-boost-is-not-only-working-with-dcs-world-it-works-in-steamvr-games-too/19960/85 I did not manage to make it works with IL2 BoS and it didn't work anymore with the last pitool version. Moreover, if you let the GPU be used at 95-100% there are doubled frame in DCS. But it provide a gain of more than 15 fps on 38 ! I had to work with smart smoothing to reduce GPU workload by using caped fps, but after a while it looks like the smart smoothing went off, fps goes upper to 36 fps, GPU usage rise and double frame appeared again. So my conclusions are : There is a great margin in Pitool, at least for DCS As it did not work for IL2 Bos, either game is GPU bound, or there is some way to code that forbid the sweViver trick and maintain a ~70% usage of your GPU with Pitool...
