I have always kept ASW disabled because of the propeller artifacts and ghosting, this could really be a game changer... Don I'm looking forward to your impressions on ASW 2.0.

I do have a 2080ti , 32 gb ram  ssd etc , but 90fps was only at high altitude before  . Now its 90fps even down low  . With the debug set at 2.0000000

It doesn't work in il2.

Devs need to implement it.

2.0 in oculus settings is like 300% in steam vr unless you're on low settings ain't nobody getting locked 90fps.

you should use the 3d migoto mod on to get rid of the propeller artifacts, it works in mods off mode (multiplayer)

You mean to get rid of the propeller. Thanks. If I wanted to play jets I'd play DCS.

I think I have it on in both debug and steam vr . I dont know if one overrides the other ..

I look forward to trying this out, likely will be tomorrow though.

I am already getting great fps so I may not notice it as much.

Ok gave it a whirl in a PWCG mission this afternoon.

Hard for me to say as I was already getting like 85-90 fps mostly anyway, but seemed like I was pegging 90 fps more than I was previously.

I will get more time for gaming tomorrow and check it in Career Mode as well as that can be a little more demanding.

Dont ask stupid , I say to myself  ....but anyway .....

Shall I download it or is it downloaed as update allready ...or set the Oculus in beta mode  ????

I just set the Oculus in beta mode and the drivers were download automagically.

Tried ASW2.0 in DCS with no appreciable effect.

Hopefully we can get the developers to work with Ocluls to get ASW 2.0 implemented in IL2. Would be a huge improvement for many of us I imagine.

@NibbioASW 2.0 is only implemented on unreal 4 and Unity at this time, I believe DCS has its own engine?   I imagine both DCS and IL2 will sort it out.

Yeah fired up the game after some time spent in DCS and BOX was very smooth, even in a career mission. DCS really needs to get some serious optimization going...

Oh yes, definitely seeing performance improvement with the new Rift 1.37 software. Most evident to me in the Career.

Not sure why as there were not any notes regarding performance enhancements in the 1.37 release notes, but it is there for me.

It is more apparent for me in the bomber escort missions which were the more demanding ones.

Now let me clarify, when I say performance improvements I am talking about raw fps. It has always been very smooth for me on this rig, in fact if I was not running the fps counter when checking this I would likely not notice any real difference.

I typically run 85-90 fps. Previously in bomber escort career missions it would drop down into the 70's , but now escort missions also running 85-90 fps for the most part.

( I always fly with ASW off).

Oh, that's great! I need to get back into one of my careers... If I just could tear myself away from that fantastic Tomcat :joy:

Installed the new (beta) drivers today, substantial improvement in performance. Both in terms of FPS in fpsVR and general smoothness of the game. Highly recommend for all oculus user!

According to Oculus, ASW 2 should be working in IL-2.

Oculus Support stated a way to tell if a game supports ASW 2:

If you press the Oculus button while in the game, and Dash comes up with the game still displayed, it is supporting ASW 2.

If however when  you press the Oculus button while in the game and the screen fades to gray when Dash comes up, then it does not support ASW 2.

I tried this in IL-2 - and sure enough the game stayed displaying along with Oculus Dash, so if what they say is accurate then it supports ASW 2 now.

Could have something to do with perceiving a performance improvement.

I typically fly with ASW off so I can't really comment on any difference. I could try it with ASW on but most times I am around 90 fps anyway so it is not kicking in at that level.

May give it a try though later on and see if I notice a difference in ASW with it on when frame rates do drop.

Oculus also stated it was not just 1.37 PTC, but release version 1.36 has it also.

I came in here to double check but I could tell ASW 2.0 was working.  MUCH less tearing...game changer for IL2 + rift users.  Happy times!

Many thanks to the IL2 team for getting this implemented.

You mean the reticle artefacts are gone with ASW 2.0?

indeed!  the clouds shimmering is also gone.  Why are more people not super jacked up on ASW 2.0? its a MASSIVE improvement.

That sounds good. Can't check for myself as I'm spending my second month waiting for a replacement Rift cable.

This is interesting because cloud shimmering is not really an ASW thing. At least not for me because I always go with ASW off due to mainly the gunsight flickering and I always had those crappy shimmering clouds when going below High Preset w/ High clouds settings.

ASW 2.0 is much better for the propellor and most flight situations. In about 95% of my flight time I wouldn't be able to tell you if ASW 2.0 had kicked in or not. It's particularly awesome for low level flight and getting out of the airfield, which tend to be low FPS zones. Unfortunately for very critical phases of flight -- if a plane comes across your field of view quickly, like in a head-on pass or a dogfight -- you'll see the unfortunate "motion blur" effect. I have found this can hinder ID if you're trying to zoom on a fast moving airplane. Game is totally playable though, and this might be a game-changer for a lot of people, but it's still definitely not as good as a full 90 fps (obviously!).
