[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Y’all get your “Cinematic Flak” figured out? Since it’s not a “Mod” as you say. How about wrapping up a gun with the logic stream and putting it out in the Groups Sharing topic for download, deconstruction and use? Certainly put it to work as immersive eye-candy in several ways.
ITAF_Rani Posted March 7, 2024 Posted March 7, 2024 I would report probably a bug in this map Operation -Paravane Sep 19. When flying 109 G6 late, the engine temps suffered quick rise with difficult to stay in the limits.. I switched many time in order to check from manual/ auto radiators, but at the end the engine sized up. 2

von_Tom Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 I noticed on the '44 map last night that there is an unpleasant trend. The front line follows the French coast so allied aircraft were simply heading out to sea then bailing to avoid being shot down or flying home. I'd have no hesitation in 'chute shooting someone gaming the game like that. It also follows that axis aircraft are less likely to attack targets close to the English coast because of the need to make it all the way home if they are damaged or under attack etc. If it is really an allied attacks the axis map then that's understandable but it doesn't look like that. Aside from that the map is excellent and the radar is a very welcome touch. though the radar horizon seems to be at sea level all the way across. Just my thoughts. von Tom 2

MiGCap Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 (edited) Thank You for Your efforts, but there were enough servers covering the Eastern front. The best thing on Combat Box was that one could rely on that it was playing mostly late war on Western front. I will return when this experiment is over. Sorry. YoYo Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 Ok I see it. How long will be this Apollo campaign? Each time was 72/72 players so we cant use Combat Box as main server for me and my friends (even 1, 2 free space sometimes isnt for us). Its a pity too that its East Front, we have quiet similar servers. Combat Box was a Western Front, this was the main advantage of CB. A little pity, the best option was to leave CB server and set up the campain on the different server, with the name of Apollo. 1
SYN_Ricky Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 I really don't mind Apollo going Eastern front, I for one was getting a bit bored of late war west front only, but I know I might be a minority here. As for other East front server, I do enjoy FVP, but it has a mixed planeset, I prefer historical ones and WOL is not "full real" as much as CB. What bothered me a bit last night is that on the two missions I flew there were no more targets for the allies to destroy, it might be a mission design though.
Youtch Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 I had a blast playing new Kuban campaign and the new effect for flak are fantastic. Many thanks for creating a new Apollo theater! 2

What bothered me a bit last night is that on the two missions I flew there were no more targets for the allies to destroy, it might be a mission design though. As this is our first time we've run the campaign, we are in the process of assessing how best to tweak it to ensure that we strike the right balance between allowing targets to be destroyed, thus rewarding people for 'playing the game' whilst not leaving the map desolate. In the meanwhile, the airfields themselves are valid targets, so in the absence of the "factories/railyards/troop encampments" there remain some very important objects at the airfields ready to destroy and win points for your team. 2
Oboe Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 What are the important objects at an airfield to destroy? Are all the hangars destructible?
Barnacles Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 1 hour ago, Oboe said: What are the important objects at an airfield to destroy? Are all the hangars destructible? Yes, hangars, parked aircraft, fuel dumps, bunkers. All are to be attacked and destroyed.
Oboe Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 (edited) Thank you Barnacles. I haven't been able to get in this afternoon. Webpage showed 63 pilots there but when I go to Multiplayer in game, it shows 72/72 online and I can't get in... Edited March 18, 2024 by Oboe
YoYo Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Guys. What does it mean as description - Destroyed (target) but with for example Supply points 30 still? I bombed this area again, few times, recived points (but my own) but the target had 30 supply points still in the description. Second, if it has Destroyed tab but with few suppy points still this target is eliminated totaly (for the next map too)?
YoYo Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 The campaign is over? I see normal CB missions Today. Unfortunately, communication is poor . It would be useful to have more information.

It would be good to have -- you could see which servers are full, and then 'queue' for the one you want, maybe with some kind of estimated wait time. At the moment you have to wait for a slot to open, click the server, and hope you are faster to join than anyone else. If you ever get the opportunity, be sure to let the developers know you would like a feature like this for popular servers. 9 hours ago, YoYo said: The campaign is over? We'll be running our Kuban campaign again this week, starting Thursday. We also noticed the situation with all the targets being destroyed. This is not the intention. We have made some changes and fixes to try to address this, and we'll see how it pans out for the next run of the campaign. 1

--[---MAILMAN---- Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 (edited) I flew the campaign tonight and was connected to SRS. What a shock when I requested a call sign like I usually do, I could not even understand the bot response the accent was so thick, it was unintelligible except for a syllable here and there. Also the altitude spoken suddenly is in meters and the distances in kilometers. The call sign pronunciation was so butchered I rarely recognized it when the bot called to me. And when I did recognize when I was being called the altitude was given to me in meters and distance in kilometers, my P-40 altimeter is in feet and the map tool is in miles. Is this going to be the new normal when a map rotates to an eastern front map? If so will a player be able to turn off the bot on channel 1 so he/she can still communicate with the other players since that is where the majority are? If not, then at least for me, there is no reason to join SRS and listen to what amounts to static in my headset every 30 seconds or so. If this isn't possible I probably have flown my last mission on an eastern front map on CBOX. ☹️ Edited March 27, 2024 by --[---MAILMAN----
DerGrizzly Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 While it isn't much of a problem for me personally, I have heard of quite a few players that find the Russian accent on SRS difficult to understand. I figure that should be tweaked a little (while possibly retaining the accent to a degree, adds a bit of flair in my opinion). Callouts being given in meters / feet etc. should not be much of an issue, though - being familiar with metric myself (and unfamiliar with imperial units) - I usually just convert it roughly. 3000 feet = ~ 1 km and vice versa. 1
R33GZ Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Of course the unit's would be in meters and kilometers... it is the Russian unit of measure, same as it is for the luftwaffe. I guess you're experiencing the same issues the real pilots would have experienced while flying lend lease aircraft

Five_By_Five Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 (edited) Can anyone offer assistance in setting up SRS? I have done everything that I know how to do. I have followed the instructions to a T, as far as I know. I have the proper address entered and the .cfg appears to be set up correctly. srs.combatbox.net:6002 When I start the overlay I'm notified by the controller that I am in the neutral lobby and to spawn an aircraft. When I do this, nothing happens. I'm also unable to see the radio overlay in game. I can hear the mic clicks when I switch radios but no body can hear me and I can hear no one else. I can see other players when I toggle the client list. The controller says "Welcome to CombatBox" so I know I am connected. When I Alt/tab I can see that the Server and VOIP are green but IL-2 is not. This would seem to mean that the client does not actually see me starting the game. I have it set to the proper folder within Steam as far as I can tell. I have posted elsewhere but have received no response. I would very much like to get this working as I believe it would improve my online experience. At least, I hope it will. I am very tired of simply being a target drone while flying online. III/JG52_Al-Azraq Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 I had so much fun with my squad in this campaign. Also it is my comeback to simulation after a hiatus I took to change my professional career. Having been successful at that, I am back and couldn't be happier to find out amazing projects like this. Both sides fought well and I have found a great deal of healthy competition. I can't wait for the next one! Thanks a lot to the admins and devs of Combat Box!

Let us know if it's better next time the Kuban campaign comes around. By the way, it's pointless to end a complaint with "and if you don't fix it, I'll fly elsewhere." We've heard that a lot over the years. You might think you're emphasizing your point; what you're really doing is making it more likely we'll ignore you. A simple "this was hard to understand, can you improve it?" is all that's needed. 1 2
--[---MAILMAN---- Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Emphasizing my point. 🤣 Hardly. Just giving my opinion and what I did/will continue to do as my remedy if this is the way it will be going forward in campaigns and missions. I don't fly anyplace else due to no SRS. I already turn the radio volume down to eliminate the "in game immersion". Not trying to start a flame war, so if you ignore me then just ignore me. If there was an option to mute/reduce the volume of just the bot in SRS that would be a different story. I have SRS/Overlay/Player List display on a second monitor so I see who is connected to SRS and who is talking. I see how few players tune to the other available channels without the bots other than groups or those on a mission. To me SRS is an essential aspect of a multiplayer server for survival/success.
