FOLLOW UP:

 

These are the rail yards on the Rhineland map, their approximate location and the dates where “rail yard” as a target should be available based on the Red/Blue defined areas of the map.

“Rail Yard” is available as a target for ALL map periods except “Dec ‘44-Jan ‘45”.  
 

Best I can tell, “rail yard” is not a selectable target for either Red or Blue for the period “Dec ‘44 - Jan 45’”.  There should be at least 4 locations for the map/period that will work for red/blue.  These would be Cologne, Bonn, Liège, Charleroi.  Check my work though, May be I missed something.

Thanks for looking into this. In the Battle of the Bulge front (dec 44-jan 45) Charlerois is just outside the front border, so that only leaves Liege as target. I have created a new 'rail yard' in Verviers.

For Mar-May '45 there are several railyards in Axis territory, but all right on the front line. I think the generator will only pick Koblenz based on distance to front, but at least it will work. I'll enable rail yards for all fronts on Rhineland.

New version released!

 

Release Notes Version 55
-Added 'Very high' as option for altitude (~5000m for WW1 and ~+8000m for WW2)
-Added 'Calm' wind setting which gives you 0 wind and 0 turbulance
-Added huge smoke columns
-Fixed smoke columns only to be generated in the selected front area, not across the whole map.
-Fixed a bug where mission generation failed since v54.1 when selecting moving target (train, vehicles ships)
-Added Breguet 14.B2 Allied bomber
-Added Belgium WW1 as faction. Belgian skins will be selected if available
-Added default skins for United States WW1 if available
-Enabled rail yards as objective for all Rhineland fronts
-Distance from IP (wp2) to target will be increased for level bombing missions and reduced for WW1 maps
-Fixed time formatting in briefing
-Added call sign in briefing for single player WW2 missions
-Reduced overall size of app and compressed the button layout to support lower resolution displays (app size now: 1092x960)
-Added Bf 110 as fighter/interceptor for Kuban map

Some things I was not able to do:

 

-Bigger/multiple bomber flights. This one is really tough. Unfortunately IL2 BoX only supports 'V'-formation and echelon-formation. It has no 'box' formation which we really need for bombers. It's possible to sort of fake it by creating a second flight of bombers that then 'escorts' the first flight. They will then actually fly pretty close to the other flight, but you still have to tell that flight to bomb separately and make sure they then rejoin, tell them to land after the other etc. All in all, pretty complex. Maybe some day, but not something I can do very quickly.

-Increasing the number of vehicles in a vehicle column (or ships, or train cars etc) is possible, but also not simple. I need to create a different template that dynamically adds vehicles to a column. Again, maybe someday.

 

I'm going to keep an eye on how the new Quick Mission Generator that has been released will be improved, before I commit to any big changes. 

 

Btw do try the 'very high' altitude setting. It's really cool to fight with contrails everywhere! (screenshot by Sevenless)

Found another bug: The rain/snow option doesn't work at all. In the next version this will be supported again.

I guess it's not something ppl miss that much, I also almost never fly in rain conditions...

Rain and snow make for some of the enjoyable and challenging missions. When you get a chance we’d appreciate a fix. Thanks in advance for all your hard work in keeping this up to date.

Nope, Nope, Nope!:)

I love to fly in adverse conditions, especially in the IL2. It would be great if you could add the rain & snow back in along with the shoulder messages and palm fronds waiving.:popcorm:

The EMG has been updated following release 4.701:

 

Release Notes EMG Version 56

-Added DFW CV to Arras map and to German bomber and attackers planes presets

-Updated weather logic for new clouds technology

-Fixed rain/snow option. If turned on, it will now rain or snow (in winter) with appropriate (new) clouds: medium/heavy/overcast

-In dogfight game type, when selecting 'in the air' as start location you can spawn in the air close to the objective

-In dogfight game type callsigns have been added to aircraft that can be spawned

-In an Attack scenario aircraft will only attack ground targets and not drop bombs on a specific location (both were activated previously)

-Added random artillery sites to the ambient ground forces (next to vehicle columns, trains and boats)

-Adjusted success counters for destroyed objectives for: fuel dump, ammo dump, garrison, HQ, rail yard. Counters were set too low

-Replaced sdkfz251-szf with PAK40 in artillery template as it is not shooting anymore

-Added warning in the briefing when starting from the runway (to make sure you have your throttle closed)

-AAA sites will now not respawn after being destroyed

-Reworked all map templates so damaged buildings use the new damage setting, resulting in much smaller .mission files

-Changing the game type will not reset start position in GUI anymore

:)  This is one of the longest running jokes we have over at the Dogz, one of our members ALWAYS calls it "Throttles!" before the mission loads....and yes some of us still cock up!

Following the release of Update 4.702 there is a new version of the EMG:

 

Release Notes Version 57

-Added P-51B as fighter and attacker to Rhineland plane list and to custom plane sets 

-Oriented Smoke columns to indicated wind direction (I assumed incorrectly that the smoke effects would do this automatically)

-The Flight Plan on the map can now be turned off. This is useful for Multiplayer dogfight missions.

-Fixed small bug in tab 'Plane Sets': It was not possible to delete an aircraft type from custom plane set if custom category was different from the preset category

-Corrected a number of default skins for selected country

Dear SYN_Vander, first of all, thank you very much for your efforts. I've been trying to understand your program but I haven't been able to. I looked on youtube, there is no tutorial video. I want a constantly renewed dogfight mission. Also, I want to do escort duty. But I couldn't do them. I am waiting for tutorial videos for your beautiful program, please. You are awesome :)

Hi  I noticed today (12/01/2022) the Easy Mission generator wasnt working. I wondered if this is broken by a new game update? Apologies, it really is a great tool.  Thanks for making it. 

Apologies it looks like my STEAM install was borked,  so I re aqquired the necessary files, Thanks anyhoe, its a shame IL2 1946 was never updated as BOS is (for VR). , i bet a lot of people would love to fly the Rocket ME163.

Has there been found a way to edit the mods/loadout for the planes yet? Im talking about for the hole group, not the customise thing you can do with your own plane after starting the mission ?

If you for exampel want to do bombs with your typhoon squad instead of rockets. (They always spawn with rockets)

Yes, in the next version you can edit a separate config file if you want to do that. Currently the typhoon has rockets if you go for certain targets I believe, not always.

Actually, I think I will define loadout categories such as: guns only, rockets, anti-tank, bombs tactical, bombs strategic, cargo and then you can pick one for your flight. In the config file you will be able to change how eg 'rockets' will map to actual loadout parameters.

No, but you will be able to change the configuration file and there you could enter values so that for a given loadout you use your preferred settings for engine, wings etc. But this is too complex to generalize in a couple of presets in the user interface.

Nice! It'll be good to take a flight of D-9s on a ground attack mission and be able to give them something with a little more punch than Sc-50s ?

We just tested your generator with my pals tonight, on a dogfight multi-objectives mission and we had a blast ! I can't believe it took us this long to try it out...

That's all I wanted to say, no useful feedback, just plain appreciation for your work !

New version 58 is out!

 

The main new feature is the possibility to select a specific loadout for a flight instead of using the default loadout for the chosen scenario.

 

There are 5 loadout configurations per plane. The names speak for themselves. Not all aircraft support these loadouts, so in that case I have tried to select something similar. Example: The bf110e2 doesn't have rockets, but if that loadout is chosen the aircraft will be fitted with a number of small bombs. Another example: The anti-armor loadout will result in the Ju-87 being fitted with anti-tank cannons, but for the Typhoon you'll get AP rockets.

If you want to use your own very specific loadout you can do so by editing the loadout configuration per aircraft in the planes.json file in the \data subfolder. The numbers in brackets are for the Payload and WeaponMods respectively. You can find proper values for these in the Full Mission Builder. Change this at your own risk and be aware that a new update will overwrite the file.

-Fixed skin defaults per country for Flying Circus planes

-Fixed bug where random AI could trigger success of a transport mission

-Fixed start/spawn points for Venlo airfield on Rhineland map; they hadn't been set at all
