The unpainted prototype of the Aermacchi MC 202 Folgore.

I know it's in-game but this is my own interpretation of it.

Downloadable on HSD, of course!

This is the same plane but in it's new paintjob...

Hi Rap!
I have a question about the color of the middle stripe on the stern rudder of the upper Thunderbold.
Is the black or blue historically accurate?
I see pictures of different aircraft from this unit with both versions and am unsure now.

PS: I would be very happy about a historical "wingman" from your workshop?

It's pretty much a lottery in a lot of cases as a lot of the representations are artists versions from post-war.
In this case I think it's definitely black, purely because of the weight of said evidence...print-of-the-republic-p-47d-thunderbolt-maj-howard-park-513th-fighter-squadron-406th-fighter-group-france-1945.jpg.b65a62c4dfcda770236261310ec4aa78.jpg811575869_Screenshot2022-10-03103608.thumb.jpg.fc20bf11e7c1c9ac32c2d72386f8a25e.jpg

PS Do you have any more pictures of 'wingman'? Save me trawling, I've quite a bit on at the moment...

Hi Rap!

I didn't find anything new about the Sundin-profile.
Other planes, yes - but not usable (blurry photos / illegible serial numbers or nose markings !).
But?
I did find a template: 4P-X "Lois" (a profile from the book: "The 406th Fighter Group in World War II"

https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Steven-Brandt/dp/0578122898

+ photo)

https://ww2db.com/image.php?image_id=31067

(would go well with your 4P-S as "wingman"! Better than the Sundin profile / since same time period - see invasion stripes!!!)

Sorry, I can not offer more?

Is that enough to make a skin???
I would be very happy if it works?

Regards

Christoph

P-51B/Mustang Mk.III

249 Squadron RAF, Biferno, Italy, November 1944

Serial KH569, ID GN-H.

It was piloted by Flying Officer Edward James McCabe (441 Sqdn RCAF) after it's stint in Italy

THIS is where it gets interesting because this pilot is credited(?) as having

died in an accident flying this aircraft but in the UK and having been in 441 Squadron RCAF

(he WAS Canadian).
Therefore I think it would be safe to assume that the aircraft was re-assigned to 441 Sqdn after

hostilities had officially ceased at the time of the accident.

"Pilot flying a Mustang when the aircraft apparently suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure and crashed Hull, Yorkshire, England..."
Date: 24 Jul 45 Aircraft: Mustang III KH569 Unit 441 Sqdn Airfield /Crash Location , UK

As ever, it's available on HSD

Enjoy!

Supermarine Spitfire MkIX

A Spitfire of 133 Squadron (Norwegian) RAF, ML144~’FN B’, flown by Szt. Arne Helle Holter out of Caen, Normandy from August 1945.

The pilot was killed whilst ground-striking around the Roermund area in The Netherlands when his aircraft was hit by German AAA and crashed.

He is buried at Paters Franciscanen monastery in Vlodrop.

Available to all on the wonderful HSD!!

(NB There is an error on the fuselage stripe that has since been corrected so please don't abandon me!!:coffee:)

P51-B Mustang

Based on an A36 A Allison-powered Apache, this machine was flown by Maj. John 'Jeep' Crowder of the 524th FBS/27th FBG in Sicily during 1943.
It is notable for the red surrounds on the roundels, also roundels top and bottom of both wings. This was introduced in the summer of 1943
but was then ditched for the normal bluie-and-white. It also has a 'gas patch' on the fuselage which was used to detect if the Axis were
emplooying chemical weapons whereby it would (theoretically) change colour.

Available to download on HSD

Enjoy and DON'T spare the horses(power)!!

Spitfire FR XIV MV293

Built at the end of 1944 at Keevil, Wiltshire, this Spitfire Mk XIV was stored by the RAF until early 1945. It was sent, from 33MU at RAF Lyneham
to India where details of whatever service she saw have been lost in the mists of time  (and the Royal Indian Air Force records system!).
Recovered from Bangalore, she arrived on  May 26 1978 at Doug Arnold/Warbirds of GB Ltd. She then went to The Fighter Collection, Duxford,
September 1985 where she was restored. First flight at Duxford, August 14, 1992.- Initially flown as MV293/OI-C, she was then repainted at
Duxford as MV268/JE-J, 2000 to surprise Johnnie Johnson who's last Spitfire was in this livery.

Just one more thing, this machine was fitted with a bubble canopy and will be updated as soon

as we have that very machine in-game.

You know the rest, it's available on HSD!

For the first time, years later, I see 20% what " Cliffs of Dover" - was meant to be +++!

Rap, just add some Bf-109 F ,...

so that we could re-experienence - what really was meant (dramatically) to be late CoD...
