Balance or some other reason?

Recommended Posts

Two updates after Spit mk.ix still without 150 octane fuel and 25lbs boost!

From little i know 150octane fuel was widely spread and used form mid '44 on allied side.

While we have k4 1.98ata with C3 fuel that was barely in any operational numbers.

Is balance reason for such decision?

Any words or explanation from devs?

Time constraints. Balance isn't a factor at all It has everything to do with limit amount of time.

Eventually we should hopefully see the addition of 150 fuel for the allied aircraft.

looks like both the merlin 66 and 70 were cleared for 25 ibs  boost. I hope to see this in game by BoBP launch. Dev's must have their reasons for not giving it to us, would be nice to know what they were, but either way Spit is likely to be one of my BoBP favorites

Word from devs regarding future plans would be nice on that matter!

I'm glad we got K4 1.98ata but it's just weird having that and not having something that was pretty much standard back than.

It's been over 6months since spit is out.

It's been explained a thousand times - time and resources are limited. They'll get to it when they can.

I haven't seen any official response regarding that.

I hope you're right and we get it by BoBp release.

Here is some word from a dev on this topic, hopefully somebody can find something new as I have exhausted most of my usual places.

It's nice to see they are working on it, at least collecting materials.

Even estimated performance would be more accurate historically than no boost at all.

It would make BoBp unfinished if released without it!

Pretty much.

Here is a map of 150 octane fuel in use at various airfields by Squadron & Date along with all sources I have on the topic so far. Still work in progress.

Looks like this powercurve is without ram effect, the power peaks correspond to the critical altitudes for +25 lb boost in the following climb test (which by being at low airspeeds it wouldn't have signficant ram effect).

I´m pretty confident we´ll get it in time for the BoBP release. There are no convincing arguments against it and they have already said that they do it once they find the time. Remember they have a whole lot of stuff to work on and their days only have 24 hours ?

reading through the posts in this thread the issue is not so much time, but available performance data, particularly for the merlin 70 at 25 ibs

Might be good to make a public thread to gather just such info.

This^^^

There could be a lot of Spit freaks out there with all kind of materials and manuals.

After all it's widely popular plane.

Windmills maybe you can make a new thread named "merlin 70 25lbs boost performance".

Probably better somebody else, I have very little to contribute myself in terms of charts/documentation etc.

Is that excerpt Talon posted the full request? Just confirming since maybe some was cut off.

Hi all,

This has been talked several times. Please use the search function before opening topics dealing with the same stuff.

As said above, devs already answered this.
