Irregular players for Flying Circus

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just to let those who might want to join us there is a small group of us that are flying Flying Circus on the Berloga server.

You have a good chance of flying with us between 2 PM to 9 PM Eastern Time USA.

The fellow who is there most often is GCF.  Other players are Woodrow Call and SP1969.

We have a chat room on Discord and use the DISCORD voice option to talk.

It’s widespread and easy to use.

If you are asking , then you are not a regular user of discord. It's far more than just a voice coms program.

The more I used it the more useful it became.

Your right I'm not, that's why I asked, what's Discord got  the TS doesn't? I personally had trouble getting it to work for some reason but that was a while ago.

You can share images, make chat bots, make music channels, and it’s way easier to use.

I also use it to get support from different communities and share information. Its easier to use and setup than TeamSpeak, its more widespread than TeamSpeak is these days. Its as much a txt coms program as it is a voice and video coms program. It's also supported on mobile devices and has a web interface too (https://discord.com/login) , which can be useful. Its much easier to share stuff with it than programs like TeamSpeak. Its also updated a lot more frequently than teamspeak.

If you want just register and use the web interface  to try it out , so nothing to install., doesn't get easier to setup than that.

I used to use TeamSpeak , now I hardly ever do, discord is more useful.

I'll have to check it out, how much does it cost to run your own channel? At the moment I pay $110 a year for 25 players and 5 gig extra memory so anyone can share files.

Clutter. Lots and lots of clutter. Memory leaks and unkillable leftover processes.

Discord is better for server operators - a discussion forum / facebook lite integrated with voice comms, notifications, whatnot. Great for pick up groups of people who happen to be on server at same time, ask a question and post youtube video, stream your game etc. Can be easily joined from cellphone to see who is on without booting your PC.

TS excells as communication system for established group of people. No bells, no whistles.

Sounds good, thanks for the heads up @US3PG_Hubbard. I can’t today but I hope I will see you on there soon.

Teamspeak is mainly a Voice comms platform, whereas Discord is a more a "community" platform. You get voice comms in Discord, but you also get a message board type feature, image sharing, etc. Discord is better where you want to form a "community" of players around your squadron. Teamspeak works just as well if you're only interested in a place for voice comms.

Ok Duck I'll talk to the boys and give it a try, maybe we can hook up on discord, I'll give you the channel when set up. If I can get the damn thing to work.

Oh sorry for taking your thread off the rails but thank you all for the info. Perhaps if you guys fly allied we can have a big ass whooping party against the evil empire.

Sorry J2.
