Querky1231 Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Not sure about historical users who may have had more practice, but this video shows it being pretty hard to escape a T-34-85 via the driver's hatch. 1 1
SCG_judgedeath3 Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Dunno if they have done something with the last update but in yesterdays battles in my tiger I was quite surprised and happy: Went out and encountered a T-34 from 500 meters away and started to shot at it, but I missed due to not having played the game for a while but the T-34 responded and shot at me and got ina hit on my front but it bounced, got hit 2-3 times more but it couldnt pen the armour, yay! Once I got in a hit, the T-34 was knocked out, with one hit which is so far rare thing to happen. Later advanced towards their tank base and took out 2 guns and another T-34 came towards me and hit my front but it once again bounced and I responded and hit it with my first shot, it came to a halt and was knocked out, second t-34 killed from close range with one shot. ? The match ended after that but if this is how it is like now then Im super happy and big thanks to the game makers, now it feels more like how it should be. I just hope it wasnt a once in a life time occurrence and the T-34s is back to being unrealistic next time I play. 3

I'll give TC another try after your report to see how it is now ... It was pretty bad before but if things hold out as you say, we might have something to be happy about in TC development. Thanks! 1
6FG_Big_Al Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 That does sound good indeed. I still hope that after the "new" T-34 mod. 43 and Pz. III M the two "old" ones will be copied/reworked. Then the problem should (hopefully) no longer exist.
SCG_judgedeath3 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Had some more matches today, sadly I didnt get to engage in as much tank vs tank engagement as I wanted due to airplane attacks but so far: T-34 and KV-1 havent been able to penetrate my front armour and having problems with my side armour but when I shot a T-34 it was killed at once, KV-1 in two shots but that could be due to my aim. So far Im quite pleased and loving it, can endure the allieds/russians spam bombing one from the air, as long as I get my realistic tank combat Im happy. If the game developers read this: Good work and please keep how its like now and improve on it, starts to feel like the real thing now with the current line up of tanks.
Torrens Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 (edited) Played a few games after patch and this is my experience so far. Tried few long games as Tiger, and there is a considerable difference to how much punishment it can take now. I had a game where I encountered 6 T34's alone and knocked them all out with one shot on the front plate or turret. They all tried to encircle me, but I was able to keep my front plate towards them everytime, and took no serious damage. It's a miracle both my tracks were still intact. I later advanced towards a town and took around 50 rounds to the front plate from anti-tank guns, T34's and KV1's. I was still able to attack the town without respawning and clear it out with other tigers. I also died many times to T34's at point blank range, when they managed to avoid my frontal armor. It seems realistic now and as long as you can keep front armor towards enemy, you are not in serious danger unless a lucky round hurts the crew somehow. KV1's seem to be more durable than T34's now. I had many duels with KV1's and in many cases I had to pump round after round into them, which I like a lot. KV is a though tank even tough its no Tiger. I managed to beat a Tiger with KV1 from 100 meters after unloading 10 rounds of APCR into commanders cupola and gunner optics. It didn't stop the Tiger but it stopped shooting so I must've killed the gunner eventually. All in all for the first time since I got the game, I didn't fear when I saw T34's in my Tiger. At the same time when I played against them, it made me finally go "oh shit" when they turn their guns at me. Tigers are tough as nails, T34's melt like butter, and KV1 is underdog but sometimes survives suprising amount of damage. Excellent work devs. Edited March 8, 2019 by Torrens 3 2
BlitzPig_EL Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Interesting. One of the things that has kept me from getting TC is that I fear that most players will simply default to the God Mode Tiger, making playing Allied about like fighting a K4 1.98 with a P40. Is online historically balanced at all? Meaning Tigers here and there, but mostly Pz. IVs?
Torrens Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 (edited) At the moment almost every Axis player chooses Tiger. This is because Tiger has full interiors, crew inside, has more accurate model and the obvious fact that its the cool kid on the block. Panzer III doesn't have interior and looks outdated compared to fully modeled Tiger. On the Soviet side almost everyone takes T34, so you will always face scores of them trying to flank your position. This is because T34 has superior mobility over other tanks currently, and gives the player initiative that comes with the ability to relocate fast. They used to be op with superman armor, but now they die like flies when Tigers spot them. They are very dangerous if they get close enough, and Tigers go up in flames every game. Encountering KV1S is rare in mp currently. It has full interior and accurate 3D model, but its quite slow off road and people still prefer T34 because of the speed. I personally prefer KV1 because of full interior and better armor. Mp maps currently have unrealistic objectives, where you simply capture flags. It creates unrealistic gameplay sometimes, with people chasing flags around. Devs will eventually add the new map and real war objectives that don't care about stupid flags anymore. The devs are about to release a fully modeled Panzer III and M4A2 Sherman with interiors and crew. I believe you will see more Panzer III's after their release. Personally I can't wait for Panzer III, and will probably prefer it over Tiger despite its obvious shortcomings. So currently on Axis side you see Tigers with few Panzer III's, while Soviets field endless T34's with rare KV1S sprinkled here and there. Battles are often quite even, with air support slowing Tigers down and map design often forcing close quarter combat. If Tigers create a cohesive line formation in large open fields, Soviets have to disengage after new patch or risk dying in droves. Edited March 8, 2019 by Torrens
SCG_judgedeath3 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 I will play more Panzer III once Im done testing tiger to see if the armour works correctly or not, want to see if a shell from T-34 will still bounce if shot from point blank range on my frontal armour, then you will see me play more panzer III Once they add stug III and panther and Panzer IV I will be playing a lot of different tanks ? As long as the armour and penetration etc remain historical like now.

I think you nailed it. There are also, in my opinion, less servers that really support TC at the moment. And of course you prefer a tiger to an old PZ III. Who would not. But I must also say that I prefer the KV-1 just because of the interior of it. In additon the modelled tank crew is the cherry on the cake. However, it was announced that 4 tanks will be released now, at least according to Jason's statement and the last Developer Diary. And with the Pz. III and IV there should be enough choices to limit the tanks. Then there is no infinite flood of tigers anymore and more medium tanks. Also the T-34 mod.43 and Sherman might become a real eye-catcher (at least for me). Rico

Close range combat has improved a lot and tactics are more important than ever now!
