I've read the Gruppen-history of II./JG52 from Bernd Barbas, too. Very nice book with lots of information and storys. And as I have said before, I never came across this black and white "battleaxe" badge we have in the game. Anyway. As long as we have this little mod here, everything is fine for me.

Yep agree. Maybe at some point they make it "official" and integrate it. Until then, the mod will do the trick.

I just came across this mod and as I just started a career with the II./JG52 a few days ago, I read through this thread. About the changing of the emblem, the career mode tells, that the II./JG52 participated in forming the new III./JG52. This giving parts of the II. Gruppe to the new III. Gruppe and building up the II. Gruppe, might be the reason for giving it a new emblem.

But this is just a guess.

Resurrected from the grave ? well sort of...

 

I came across this site of the official JG52 association which pretty much settles the issue about the unit symbol for II./JG 52.

 

Helmut Lipfert - Traditionsgemeinschaft Jagdgeschwader 52 (jg52.net)

 

 

Translation via Google:

In a few photos (see: E. Obermeier / RK-Buch Jagdflieger / page 76-middle) he wears the badge of 5./JG52 on the lapel of his uniform jacket, which also served as a replacement for a group badge. The 2nd group never had its own real group badge.
According to Gustav Polinski, the former spear (german Spiess - Hauptfeldwebel - company sergeant major) of 6./JG52 from 1939 to 1945, he confirmed this to us several times. The little devil of 5./JG52 was a welcome and funny badge at the time and was worn in the later war years as a replacement for an independent group badge. 

 

So here we have it. No "official" badge for II./JG52 but using either shield and sword of the JG52 wing or the badge of 5./JG52 would be historically accurate.

but the dds of those small icons are misaligned version by versions
