EffeDB Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Finally I had the time to create the New reticles for 5.003 version. Here they are German Revi reticles, the italian San Giorgio for Macchi (with its variotions) and all the other available models. Bye ? https://mega.nz/file/mjAl1JqJ#CWt-CI6eMIiVjRiHI-PKEvuFga92mGDexmFIQYumKXE This is an interesting video about a real Revi gunsight: Spoiler Spoiler Edited December 12, 2022 by EffeDB New reticles for 5.003 version 9 5 8
EffeDB Posted November 7, 2018 Author Posted November 7, 2018 Yes, that's the point! I've just made a research for the "San Giorgio" gunsights (mounted on the italian Macchi planes) and they're thick as well. Probably this is the right size for all the instruments of this period. So ... thinner gunsights are beautiful to see but rather unrealistic.
FurphyForum Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Yes it does, but have a go at trying it.
EffeDB Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 Hi, I didn't found any problem with JSMGE, but you can put manually the new file reticle_revi_c12.dds in C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow\data\graphics\textures\common\ and then in the folder of the plane you want. For example:C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow\data\graphics\Planes\Bf109E7\Textures\
EffeDB Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 (edited) ----- 3.007 Version, 09/12/2018 This Mod improves the vies of "Revi_c12", "Revi_16a" and "Revi_16b" GunSights, even with the maximum zoom out. <<<< Now all 3 gunsights are different. Sorry for the inconvenient You can also use a different gunsight for each airplane. For example: 1. make a copy of Revi_16a.dds in C:\...\Data\graphics\textures\common\ 2. and put it in C:\...\data\graphics\Planes\Bf109E7\Textures\ 3. finally rename this file as Revi_c12.dds 4. make a copy of Revi_16b.dds in C:\...\Data\graphics\textures\common\ 5. and put it in C:\...\data\graphics\Planes\Bf109F2\Textures\ 6. finally rename this file as Revi_c12.dds 7. Now activate a quick mission with Bf109E7 or Bf109F2 and enjoy the difference. Edited December 6, 2022 by EffeDB Error in Revi Gunsights.rar 1
Reggie_Mental Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Can you do one for the Tempest MkV? I keep losing the sight picture in that plane. TYIA
Calius1945 Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Would love to see this for All the Spitfire variants - great work.
EffeDB Posted February 29, 2020 Author Posted February 29, 2020 There's a little problem... I've not paid for those planes!!! :) :) :) So I'm not able to use them as player and don' see their cockpits. Do you know the name of their reticles? It's reticle_mark8.dds ??? Something like this image? If so I could help you, but I can only check the result on other airplanes. Let me know.
EffeDB Posted December 6, 2022 Author Posted December 6, 2022 Added new Revi and San Giorgio working reticles for 5.003 version. 3
Skycat1969 Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I often have a difficult time seeing the USAAF and RAF gunsights while in VR. I primarily fly P-47 and Typhoon Bodenplatte careers.
EffeDB Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 ... et voilà: all the reticles are now available! https://mega.nz/file/mjAl1JqJ#CWt-CI6eMIiVjRiHI-PKEvuFga92mGDexmFIQYumKXE 2 5

czech693 Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Not for me. I even went to the Mega.nz site and started the registration process, but when I tried to activate from the email they sent me I got the cannot connect page again. I've cleared my cache and history and did a reboot but still no joy.
EffeDB Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 Try from here. It's a light copy without documentation. Better_Reticles.zip
czech693 Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Thanks, downloaded that zip and will try it out tomorrow.
firdimigdi Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 (edited) If anyone's interested, to make this one work in multiplayer after installing it as instructed above make a .bat file in the root directory of your game's installation and paste this in it: @echo off for /f %%r in ('dir /b data\graphics\textures\common\*.dds') do ( echo %%r for /d %%a in (data\graphics\Planes\*) do ( mklink /h %%a\textures\%%r data\graphics\textures\common\%%r rem del %%a\textures\%%r ) ) Executing this'll create a hard link to all the installed reticles for each plane, avoiding the need to copy them all or selectively in each plane's texture directory. To remove the links rem out the "mklink" line and remove the rem from the line under it. The benefit, apart from automation, is that you can replace any given file in the original installation directory in textures\common and the change will affect all related planes directly. ACG_Bussard Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Great stuff @EffeDB ! Is it possible to extend the graduation of more then 7° for the German Revi reticles as it´s mentioned like shown below? It would be fine thing, if you can add them to your mod. 2
EffeDB Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 (edited) I'm afraid the *.dds reticle files can only be 512x512 pixel ... ideally 7 graduations would require 850x850pixels So I had to shrink the image to maintain the original size. Here are the result: Edited July 28 by EffeDB wrong content 1
FilMit Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I apologize, but the archive is both files with an sight 16B ... And the question, which means a picture with the settings for the sight? After all, they are in no way applicable to these sights.
EffeDB Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 Sorry, I tried the reticle_revi_16b.dds in data\graphics\Planes\Bf109F4\Textures\ renamed as reticle_revi_c12.dds and at the end I forgot to change the name. Now I've uploaded the right archive (hope). Circle and graduations of the sight help hit the target: a lot of training is needed, but it works.
FilMit Posted July 27 Posted July 27 (edited) Now yes, before - "wrong content". Thanks - great work ! Edited July 27 by FilMit
FilMit Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I don’t understand anything ... Both sights are exactly the same. So it should be?
ACG_Bussard Posted July 28 Posted July 28 @EffeDB Thank you very much for your work. By resizing the Revi 7° from 850x850 to 512x512, the Revi's mil system is no longer displaye correctly. Due to the reduction in size, the range estimation and the inclusion of angle of attack for the bomb path are unfortunately no longer in scale. So I´m sorry to say it didn´t worked this way. Is there really no other way to consider a true-to-scale graduation for the Revi 7°? Do the bigger Italian San Giorgio and Soviet PBP-1 gunsights also have a native resolution of only 512x512 pixels?
EffeDB Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 (edited) To FilMit: That's clearly a Symptome: Alzheimer or Commies around me. Try this link: Revis7.rar Please write me if it doesn't work again. I will send you a link of an external repository 😁 Edited July 28 by EffeDB 1
EffeDB Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 (edited) To ACG_Bussard: San Giorgio sight is 512x512. pb1 is 254x254 but only a quarter of the sight. Probably they have a specific way to visualize the entire sight for that model. The reduction scale is 512/850=0.6, so we could calculate the new measures in the following way. For example: 512/850=xmils/100 mils -> x=60mils Edited July 28 by EffeDB
EffeDB Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 (edited) No, I'm wrong, it's just the opposite, because we have to consider the sight as it was 850x850 pixels. It's smaller and fills up sooner. So: 850/512=xmils/100 mils -> x=166, nearly 170 mils Definitely Alzheimer. Edited July 28 by EffeDB 1
ACG_Bussard Posted July 28 Posted July 28 (edited) @EffeDB Thanks for the clarification regarding the San Giorgio and the PBP-1 gunsight! The differences in scale usage seem to be hardcoded into the aircraft model. Regarding the German Revi, I´ll prefer to stick with the historically based 100-Mils system until further notice from the developers: Luftwaffe Gunnery Primer D.(Luft) 5000/1) Edited July 28 by ACG_Bussard
EffeDB Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 Good. A custom calibration is possible too: 10 m up or down, until the best result is achieved. Bye.
