An A8 would that power would still be below Dora, Kurt, P-51 etc. But it might hang with the late war monsters a bit better. Also, I got the 190 A8 up to 387mph IAS on Moscow winter at 500 feet. Is it a little faster than A5?
JtD Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 All BMW801D powered Fw190 have (a little bit) more than 1700hp. With C-3 injection and with erhöhte Notleistung, they have significantly more power (~1900). The former is available in game on the Fw190A-5, if you chose the fighter bomber version. The latter is available with the Fw190A-8. With erhöhte Notleistung engaged the A-8 is faster than the A-5 without. MW50 was never used on the Fw190A outside of some testing prototypes, and certainly not with the A-8.
LeLv76_Erkki Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 With full throttle the A-8 is currently as fast as A-5 in game and it can use full power for 7 minutes longer.Using 30 min or continuous power setting its not as fast, is much heavier(accelerated and climbs worse) and also suffers severely of overheating. A-5 is better fighter overall - for the time being.

The documentation says 1700 on emergency. Can anyone tell me the normal loaded weights of the A5 and A8 in game? I’m away from my gaming machine.
Rattlesnake Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) If I’m remembering the normal weights off the top of my head correctly (about 9400 for the A5 and 9700 for the A8) then with an extra 200 hp the A8 should have a noticeably better power/weight ratio. Bremspropeller Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 The A-9 had about 2000hp with emergency power. The initially projected engine (BMW 801F) for this type was supposed to put out 2400hp, but it wasn't ready in time.
