-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 (edited) Hi there, I wondered if there was a way to change a plane's engine with mods, in particular putting the Pe-2 series 35 engine to the Yak-1 or LaGG-3. Another possibility could be the Bf 109 F-2's engine to the Bf 109 E-7 Thanks! Edited October 30, 2018 by -=PHX=-SuperEtendard
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 (edited) You mean to say add that Engine Mods would be nice for some of the older Planes? Many Options. 109E-7 needs DB601Aa Mod and DB601N (but without the RPM increase of the F-2) Bf110E needs a 601Ba and 601P MiG-3 Propellers P-47 Propellers For most other Aircraft entirely earlier or later Versions are necessary, as a Yak-1 or LaGG as ingame never flew with a 105P(A) Edited October 30, 2018 by 6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann
-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted October 30, 2018 Author Posted October 30, 2018 I mean that would be nice if it was officially done, but it is unlikely given they are already released products and the new game direction. That's why I ask if at least a good approximation could be done with modding the game.

Rjel Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Years ago there was a game in the works by the makers of SWOTL (I think) that allowed this type of experimenting. Unfortunately it was canceled. I thought it was a cool idea and something that would be fun to experiment with in a game.
LizLemon Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 I haven't found any signs of engine or prop files. I think this stuff is located in one of the dlls which means modding is a no go.
Tony_Kito Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 IIRC Jason explicitly requested that "flight models" not be tampered with in terms of modding. That might be in part one of the reasons why obtaining these parameters is so difficult. Although I am not wholeheartedly for this policy I can understand it for the sake of MP and such, though I hope as the product progresses we can have more modding and liberties to make IL-2 GB as rich in a modding scene as 46 was. @Jason_Williams Has your policy regarding this topic changed whatsoever? I am going by your statements from the Q&A last year, and I do apologize in case I misinterpreted it.
Jason_Williams Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 All FMs are made by us. There is no way, nor do you have the know how to change our FMs. They are code, not files to be tampered with. Jason 2

And I really hope this is never going to be changed - I fully agree with you guys and never give the FM/DM out of your hands. This would be the end of the IL2 Great Battles Series. 2 2
