High resolution textures will make a huge difference in VR because everything gets enlarged in VR, including ugly textures which become super-ugly.

Really the DEVS should be looking into this.

Dump all the games archives with unGTP and look in graphics\blocks\textures, its arf_signs.dds

I unpacked the archives with unGTP. But there are no DDS textures in the blocks folder! Only these files

What do you mean? 

 

Installing the mod? Just create a duplicate file structure in the games graphics folder, so blocks if there isnt a folder like that already with a textures folder inside blocks. Then stick the texture in that folder with the same name.

Yes! I already realized that I can't insert these new objects into the game.

Another question. Can I increase the size of the object? Not the resolution, but the size of the object itself.

Are there any mods that covers the texture for buildings in the cities?

i am new to this .... can you create a new block "building".mgm file by just changing the name with a HEX editor from something photoshop can read/edit like a dds file?

 

Or must i UnGTP say maps8.gtp, load the dds into photoshop, and then what do i do exactly with the edited dds?

Place the bridges f.i. unGTPd in .....\data\graphics\bridges\textures

 

Is it possible to re-GTP the edits?

You can rename the XXXX.mgm to whatever you want and the game will load it, provided that you also add a new luascripts file in "\luascripts\worldobjects\blocks" or wherever for that kind of object. You can change the texture used in the mgm file by using a hex editor to rename the texture and it will load the texture with the same name in xxxx/textures.

 

You cant repack gtp archives.

Thanks .. now i need to learn Russian too LoL: RoadsRoF.exe works ... but loading IL2 road files seem impossible in this RoF tool 'RoadEditor.exe".

On the MOD whislist thus ...

Well, i still don't get it, sorry. But i am a programing nitwit alas.

 

i unpacked the BLOCKS filed here  ..... 1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\blocks\textures.

Now what's the next step; i have a Hex editor. Loading a DDS and saving with save as creates a mgm with the same file size ...

Now to convert all DDS files in to something?  How and into what? I understand that the worldobjects contains the lua scripts

 

And then this LuaScript folder business in worldobjects ... your torpedo bomb_ger_sc1000.txt file in ballistice/bombs is quite complicated ...

also i have a folder besides worldobjects called Woldbjects (no letter o)  containing 3 folders, fixcameras, mapemitters, and ships.

Open .mgm with a hex editor and change the name of the texture in the mgm to the same as the new one in texture folder - with the same number of characters for the new name as the old one. Use ctrl-f.

Package the MOD into a file tree that allows you to use jsgme, so you can remove it before you update your game or just plain remove it if its not to your liking. Extreme care is the norm if you attempt to install this by hand......... back up every file it touches before you start.

Hello @LizLemon! This work is excellent. I would love to add these to my IL-2 Enhanced Modpack but the download links are a bit confusing. Is there any chance you could upload them all in one package?
