Streaming while using VR?

Hello,

If you use VR hmd in this game your screen changes to two screens, how do I show a merged screen to record it?

Thanks

At one time IL-2 only showed one screen like other games do, on one of the updates it began showing two screens.

Never really understood why, I asked the question at one point but did not get any replies.

I am not very knowledgeable on recording and creating videos for playback, maybe some knowledgeable folks in this regard have already found a way and can advise you.

I am also not very familiar with recording videos in VR, but many people in this forum have done it. For sure it is explained in a post in the forum.

But I think that if you record a track while you are in VR, you can re-play that track later but not using VR (just uncheck the VR device in IL-2 to have it only in monitor). But then you will need to do the head movements you want for the video again.

The split view is useful to record SBS video that people can then watch using GearVR, Oculus Go... It's a bit disappointing nobody does it. I think it's nice the devs show both eyes in the mirror, I wish more games did it.

That being said, if you want to stream in non-stereo mode, I would say look into OBS. It allows you to capture a portion of the screen, among other things.

Are you on an Oculus Rift or Vive (or other)?

If Oculus:

Use Oculus' Composite Mirror to get one eye's view at full screen resolution in this mode:

OculusMirror.exe --Size 2160 1440 --RightEyeOnly

(For a 1440p screen)

Then use OBS as your stream software like you normally would.

There is an option in SteamVR called "Display Mirror". It is displaying "somehow" what it is sent to the HMD before applying lens distortion correction. You can try.

This is the right answer. Be aware though that a larger window will use more GPU resources, so if you're only streaming at 1080p, you'll get better performance specifying a 1080p mirror window.
